¹⁴ The Lord replied, “My Presence^(A) will go with you, and I will give you rest.”^(B)

⁴⁴ The Lord gave them rest^(A) on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies^(B) withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies^(C) into their hands.^(D)

²⁸ “Come to me,^(A) all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.^(B)

⁴ Now that the Lord your God has given them rest^(A) as he promised, return to your homes^(B) in the land that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan.^(C)

⁵ No one will be able to stand against you^(A) all the days of your life. As I was with^(B) Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake^(C) you.

²⁰ until the Lord gives rest to your fellow Israelites as he has to you, and they too have taken over the land that the Lord your God is giving them across the Jordan. After that, each of you may go back to the possession I have given you.”

²¹ By day the Lord went ahead^(A) of them in a pillar of cloud^(B) to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.
