The Burning Bush

3 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the ^(A)mountain of God.

⁸ And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food ^(A)forty days and forty nights to ^(B)Horeb, the mount of God.

^6 (A)Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.

²⁹ And Moses said to Hobab the son of ^(A)Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, ^(B)‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you, for ^(C)the Lord has promised good to Israel.”

¹¹ Now Heber ^(A)the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of ^(B)Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in ^(C)Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh.

¹⁰ how on ^(A)the day that you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, ^(B)‘Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, ^(C)so that they may learn to fear ^(D)me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so.’

^4 (A)“Remember ^(B)the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules^[a] that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, ^(A)“I was^[a] no prophet, nor a prophet's son, but ^(B)I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs. ^15 (C)But the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
