¹³ “Be careful^(A) to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods;^(B) do not let them be heard on your lips.^(C)

¹⁶ Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save^(A) both yourself and your hearers.

⁷ Do not associate with these nations that remain among you; do not invoke the names of their gods or swear^(A) by them. You must not serve them or bow down^(B) to them.

⁹ Only be careful,^(A) and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach^(B) them to your children^(C) and to their children after them.

² “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols^(A) from the land, and they will be remembered no more,”^(B) declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets^(C) and the spirit of impurity from the land.

¹⁵ See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God^(A) and that no bitter root^(B) grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

¹⁵ Be very careful, then, how you live^(A)—not as unwise but as wise,

⁵ But be very careful to keep the commandment^(A) and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord^(B) your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands,^(C) to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.^(D)”
