²² “If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely^[a] but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands^(A) and the court allows.

¹⁸ and the elders^(A) shall take the man and punish him. ¹⁹ They shall fine him a hundred shekels^[a] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

³⁰ However, if payment is demanded, the owner may redeem his life by the payment of whatever is demanded.^(A)
