⁵ On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice^(A) as much as they gather on the other days.”

²² On the sixth day, they gathered twice^(A) as much—two omers^[a] for each person—and the leaders of the community^(B) came and reported this to Moses. ²³ He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath^(C) to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’”

²¹ I will send you such a blessing^(A) in the sixth year that the land will yield enough for three years.^{(B) 22} While you plant during the eighth year, you will eat from the old crop and will continue to eat from it until the harvest of the ninth year comes in.^(C)

² For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath^(A) rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.^{(B) 3} Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.^(C)”
