^12 (A)“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give ^(B)a^[a] ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there may be no ^(C)plague among them when you number them.

⁵⁰ Therefore we have brought an offering for the Lord, what every man found of ornaments of gold: armlets and bracelets and signet rings and earrings and necklaces, ^(A)to make ^[a]atonement for ourselves before the Lord.”

¹⁸ knowing that you were not redeemed with ^[a]corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, ¹⁹ but ^(A)with the precious blood of Christ, ^(B)as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

²⁴ Joab the son of Zeruiah began a census, but he did not finish, for ^(A)wrath came upon Israel because of this census; nor was the number recorded in the account of the chronicles of King David.

²⁵ And the silver from those who were ^(A)numbered of the congregation was one hundred talents and one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary: ^26 (B)a bekah for ^[a]each man (that is, half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary), for everyone included in the numbering from twenty years old and above, for ^(C)six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty men.
