The Greatness of Mordecai
10 King Xerxes demanded taxes everywhere, even from the cities on the seacoast. 2 And all the great things Xerxes did by his power and strength are written in the record books of the kings of Media and Persia. Also written in those record books are all the things done by Mordecai, whom the king made great. 3 Mordecai the Jew was second in importance to King Xerxes, and he was the most important man among the Jewish people. His fellow Jews respected him very much, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the safety of all the Jewish people.

The Greatness of Mordecai
10 King Xerxes imposed tribute throughout the empire, to its distant shores.(A) 2 And all his acts of power and might, together with a full account of the greatness of Mordecai,(B) whom the king had promoted,(C) are they not written in the book of the annals(D) of the kings of Media and Persia? 3 Mordecai the Jew was second(E) in rank(F) to King Xerxes,(G) preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.(H)

10 And King Ahasuerus imposed tribute on the land and on (A)the islands of the sea. 2 Now all the acts of his power and his might, and the account of the greatness of Mordecai, (B)to which the king [a]advanced him, are they not written in the book of the (C)chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia? 3 For Mordecai the Jew was (D)second to King Ahasuerus, and was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, (E)seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his [b]countrymen.

10 El rey Asuero impuso un tributo a los habitantes del interior y de las regiones marítimas. 2 Las gestas heroicas del rey y su valor, así como el relato detallado de la alta dignidad que el rey confirió a Mardoqueo se hallan registrados en las crónicas de los reyes de Persia y Media. 3 Mardoqueo, el judío, fue la máxima autoridad después del rey Asuero. Los judíos lo consideraban un gran hombre, y fue muy estimado por todos sus compatriotas; él procuró el bienestar de su pueblo y trabajó para que los de su raza disfrutaran de paz.
