Esther 9:2-4
Good News Translation
2 In the Jewish quarter of every city[a] in the empire the Jews organized to attack anyone who tried to harm them. People everywhere were afraid of them, and no one could stand against them. 3 In fact, all the provincial officials—governors, administrators, and royal representatives—helped the Jews because they were all afraid of Mordecai. 4 It was well-known throughout the empire that Mordecai was now a powerful man in the palace and was growing more powerful.

New International Version
2 The Jews assembled in their cities(A) in all the provinces of King Xerxes to attack those determined to destroy them. No one could stand against them,(B) because the people of all the other nationalities were afraid of them. 3 And all the nobles of the provinces, the satraps, the governors and the king’s administrators helped the Jews,(C) because fear of Mordecai had seized them.(D) 4 Mordecai(E) was prominent(F) in the palace; his reputation spread throughout the provinces, and he became more and more powerful.(G)
