Petición de Ester al rey Asuero
5 Al tercer día, Ester se puso sus vestiduras reales y fue a pararse en el patio interior del palacio, frente a la sala del rey. El rey estaba sentado allí en su trono real, frente a la puerta de entrada. 2 Cuando vio a la reina Ester de pie en el patio, se mostró complacido con ella y le extendió el cetro de oro que tenía en la mano. Entonces Ester se acercó y tocó la punta del cetro.
3 El rey preguntó:
—¿Qué te pasa, reina Ester? ¿Cuál es tu petición? ¡Aun cuando fuera la mitad del reino, te lo concedería!
4 —Si le parece bien a Su Majestad —respondió Ester—, venga hoy al banquete que ofrezco en su honor y traiga también a Amán.
5 —Vayan de inmediato por Amán, para que podamos cumplir con el deseo de Ester —ordenó el rey.
Así que el rey y Amán fueron al banquete que ofrecía Ester. 6 Cuando estaban brindando, el rey volvió a preguntarle a Ester:
—Dime qué deseas, y te lo concederé. ¿Cuál es tu petición? ¡Aun cuando fuera la mitad del reino, te lo concedería!
7 Ester respondió:
—Mi deseo y petición es que, 8 si me he ganado el favor de Su Majestad, si le agrada cumplir mi deseo y conceder mi petición, venga Su Majestad mañana con Amán al banquete que les voy a ofrecer y entonces le daré la respuesta.
Odio de Amán contra Mardoqueo
9 Amán salió aquel día muy contento y de buen humor; pero, cuando vio a Mardoqueo en la puerta del rey y notó que no se levantaba ni temblaba ante su presencia, se llenó de ira contra él. 10 No obstante, se contuvo y se fue a su casa.
Luego llamó Amán a sus amigos y a Zeres, su esposa, 11 e hizo alarde de su enorme riqueza y de sus muchos hijos, y de cómo el rey lo había honrado en todo sentido ascendiéndolo sobre sus nobles y oficiales.
12 —Es más —añadió Amán—, yo soy el único a quien la reina Ester invitó al banquete que le ofreció al rey. Y también me ha invitado a acompañarlo mañana. 13 Pero todo esto no significa nada para mí, mientras vea a ese judío Mardoqueo sentado a la puerta del rey.
14 Su esposa Zeres y todos sus amigos le dijeron:
—Haz que se coloque una horca de cincuenta codos[a] de altura, y por la mañana pídele al rey que cuelgue en ella a Mardoqueo. Así podrás ir contento al banquete con el rey.
La sugerencia agradó a Amán y mandó que se colocara la horca.

5 (A)А на третия ден Естир се облече в царските си дрехи и застана във вътрешния двор на царската къща срещу царската къща; а царят седеше на царския си престол в царската къща срещу входа на къщата.
2 (B)И като видя царят царица Естир, че стоеше в двора, тя придоби благоволението му; и царят простря към Естир златния скиптър, който държеше в ръката си; и Естир се приближи и се допря до края на скиптъра.
3 (C)Тогава царят ѝ каза: Какво искаш, царице Естир, и каква е молбата ти? Даже до половината от царството ще ти бъде дадено.
4 А Естир отвърна: Ако е угодно на царя, нека дойде царят с Аман днес на угощението, което съм приготвила за него.
5 И царят каза: Карайте Аман да побърза, за да бъде направено, каквото е казала Естир. Така царят и Аман дойдоха на угощението, което Естир беше приготвила.
6 (D)Докато пиеха вино, царят каза на Естир: Какво е желанието ти? И ще бъде удовлетворено. А какво е прошението ти? И ще бъде изпълнено, даже до половината от царството.
7 Тогава Естир отговори: Желанието и прошението ми е това:
8 Ако съм придобила благоволението на царя и ако е угодно на царя да удовлетвори желанието ми и да изпълни прошението ми, нека дойде царят с Аман на угощението, което ще приготвя за тях, и утре ще направя, според както царят е казал.
Планът на Аман срещу Мардохей
9 (E)В този ден Аман излезе радостен и с весело сърце; но когато видя Мардохей в царската порта, че не става, нито помръдва за него, Аман се изпълни с ярост против Мардохей.
10 Обаче Аман се въздържа и отиде у дома си; тогава прати да повикат приятелите му и жена му Зереса
11 (F)и Аман им приказва̀ за славата на богатството си и за многото си деца, и как царят го беше повишил, и как го беше издигнал над първенците и царските слуги.
12 Аман каза още: Даже и царица Естир не покани друг с царя на угощението, което направи, а само мен; още утре съм поканен при нея с царя.
13 Обаче всичко това не ме задоволява, докато гледам юдеина Мардохей да седи при царската порта.
14 (G)Тогава жена му Зереса и всичките му приятели му казаха: Нека бъде приготвена една бесилка, петдесет лакътя висока, и утре кажи на царя да бъде обесен Мардохей на нея; тогава иди радостен с царя на угощението. И като се хареса това на Аман, заповяда да бъде приготвена бесилката.

5 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6 And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;
8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.
9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12 Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.
13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.
14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
