Mordecai Honored

6 That night the king could not sleep;^(A) so he ordered the book of the chronicles,^(B) the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

2 In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams;^(A) his mind was troubled^(B) and he could not sleep.^(C)

¹⁸ Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating^(A) and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.^(B)

²³ And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were impaled^(A) on poles. All this was recorded in the book of the annals^(B) in the presence of the king.^(C)

² And all his acts of power and might, together with a full account of the greatness of Mordecai,^(A) whom the king had promoted,^(B) are they not written in the book of the annals^(C) of the kings of Media and Persia?

²⁶ Saul^(A) was going along one side of the mountain, and David and his men were on the other side, hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his forces were closing in on David and his men to capture them, ²⁷ a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Come quickly! The Philistines are raiding the land.”

¹⁶ Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard.^(A) A scroll^(B) of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared^(C) the Lord and honored his name.
