¹² But when the attendants delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger.^(A)

¹⁶ They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us^(A) and hide us^[a] from the face of him who sits on the throne^(B) and from the wrath of the Lamb! ¹⁷ For the great day^(C) of their^[b] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”^(D)

3 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves^(A) to your own husbands^(B) so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over^(C) without words by the behavior of their wives,

²⁴ Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands^(A) in everything.

²² Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands^(A) as you do to the Lord.^(B)

¹³ Furious^(A) with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king,
