32 Or il popolo, vedendo che Mosè tardava a scendere dal monte, si radunò intorno ad Aaronne e gli disse: «Orsù, facci un dio che vada davanti a noi, perché quanto a Mosè, l'uomo che ci ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto, non sappiamo che cosa gli sia accaduto».
2 Aaronne rispose loro: «Staccate gli anelli d'oro che sono agli orecchi delle vostre mogli, dei vostri figli e delle vostre figlie e portatemeli».
3 Così tutto i popolo staccò gli anelli d'oro che avevano ai loro orecchi e li portò ad Aaronne,
4 il quale li prese dalle loro mani e, dopo averlo modellato con il cesello, ne fece un vitello di metallo fuso. Allora essi dissero: «O Israele, questo è il tuo dio che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto!».
5 Quando Aaronne vide questo, eresse un altare davanti ad esso e fece un bando che diceva: «Domani sarà festa in onore dell'Eterno!».
6 l'indomani essi si alzarono presto, offrirono olocausti e recarono dei sacrifici di ringraziamento; il popolo si adagiò per mangiare e bere, poi si alzò per divertirsi.
7 l'Eterno disse allora a Mosè: «Va
8 si sono presto sviati dalla strada che io avevo loro ordinato di seguire; si sono fatti un vitello di metallo fuso, si sono prostrati davanti ad esso, gi hanno offerto sacrifici e hanno detto: "O Israele, questo è il tuo dio che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto"».
9 L'Eterno disse ancora a Mosè: «Ho visto questo popolo, ed ecco, è un popolo dal collo duro.
10 Or dunque, lasciami fare, affinché la mia ira si accenda contro di loro e li consumi; ma di te io farò una grande nazione».
11 Allora Mosè supplicò l'Eterno, il suo DIO, e disse: «Perché, o Eterno, dovrebbe la tua ira accendersi contro il tuo popolo che hai fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto con grande potenza e con mano forte?
12 Perché dovrebbero gli Egiziani dire: "Egli li ha fatti uscire per fare loro del male, per ucciderli sui monti e per sterminarli dalla faccia della terra"? Desisti dalla tua ira ardente e cambia la tua intenzione di far del male al tuo popolo.
13 Ricordati di Abrahamo, d'Isacco d'Israele, tuoi servi, ai quali giurasti per te stesso, dicendo loro: "Io moltiplicherò la vostra discendenza come le stelle del cielo e darò alla vostra discendenza tutto questo paese di cui ti ho parlato, ed essa lo possederà per sempre"».
14 Così l'Eterno cambiò intenzione circa il male che aveva detto di fare al suo popolo.
15 Allora Mosè si voltò e scese dal monte con le due tavole della testimonianza nelle mani, tavole scritte su entrambi i lati, davanti e di dietro.
16 Le tavole erano opera di DIO e la scrittura era scrittura di DIO, incisa sulle tavole.
17 Or Giosuè, udendo il clamore del popolo che gridava, disse a Mosè: «C'è un rumore di guerra nell'accampamento».
18 Ma egli rispose: «Questo non né un grido di vittoria, né un grido di sconfitta; il clamore che io odo è di gente che canta».
19 Come fu vicino all'accampamento, vide il vitello e le danze; allora l'ira di Mosè si accese ed egli gettò dalle mani le tavole e le spezzò ai piedi del monte.
20 Poi prese il vitello che essi avevano fatto, lo bruciò col fuoco e lo ridusse in polvere; e sparse la polvere sull'acqua e la fece bere ai figli d'Israele.
21 Quindi Mosè disse ad Aaronne: «Che ti ha fatto questo popolo, che gli hai tirato addosso un così grande peccato?».
22 Aaronne rispose: «L'ira del mio signore non si accenda, tu stesso conosci questo popolo e sai che è inclinato al male.
23 Essi mi hanno detto: "Facci un dio che vada davanti a noi, perché Mosè, l'uomo che ci ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto, non sappiamo che cosa sia avvenuto di lui".
24 Allora io ho detto loro: "Chi ha dell'oro se lo levi di dosso". Così essi me l'hanno dato, io l'ho gettato nel fuoco, e ne è uscito fuori questo vitello».
25 Quando Mosè vide che il popolo era senza freno (e che Aaronne lo aveva lasciato sfrenare esponendolo all'obbrobrio dei suoi nemici),
26 si fermò all'ingresso dell'accampamento e disse: «Chiunque è per l'Eterno, venga a me!». E tutti i figli di Levi si radunarono vicino a lui.
27 Ed egli disse loro: «Così dice l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele: "Ognuno di voi si metta la spada a fianco; passate e ripassate da un'entrata all'atra dell'accampamento, e ciascuno uccida il fratello, ciascuno l'amico, ciascuno il vicino!"».
28 I figli di Levi fecero come aveva detto Mosè, e in quel giorno caddero circa tremila uomini.
29 Poi Mosè disse: «Consacratevi oggi all'Eterno, affinché egli vi dia una benedizione, perché ognuno di voi è stato contro suo figlio e contro suo fratello».
30 L'indomani Mosè disse al popolo: «Voi avete commesso un grande peccato; ma ora io salirò all'Eterno; forse potrò fare espiazione per il vostro peccato».
31 Mosè dunque ritornò dall'Eterno e disse: «Ahimè, questo popolo ha commesso un grande peccato e si è fatto un dio d'oro.
32 Ciò nonostante ora, ti prego, perdona il loro peccato; se no deh, cancellami dal tuo libro che hai scritto!».
33 Ma l'Eterno rispose a Mosè: «Colui che ha peccato contro di me, quello cancellerò dal mio libro!
34 Ora va' conduci il popolo dove ti ho detto. Ecco, il mio Angelo andrá davanti a te, ma nel giorno che verrò a punire io li punirò del loro peccato».
35 Così l'Eterno percosse il popolo, perché aveva fatto il vitello che Aaronne aveva modellato

5. IL VITELLO D'ORO E L'ALLEANZA RINNOVATA
Il vitello d'oro
32 Il popolo, vedendo che Mosè tardava a scendere dalla montagna, si affollò intorno ad Aronne e gli disse: «Facci un dio che cammini alla nostra testa, perché a quel Mosè, l'uomo che ci ha fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto, non sappiamo che cosa sia accaduto». 2 Aronne rispose loro: «Togliete i pendenti d'oro che hanno agli orecchi le vostre mogli e le vostre figlie e portateli a me». 3 Tutto il popolo tolse i pendenti che ciascuno aveva agli orecchi e li portò ad Aronne. 4 Egli li ricevette dalle loro mani e li fece fondere in una forma e ne ottenne un vitello di metallo fuso. Allora dissero: «Ecco il tuo Dio, o Israele, colui che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto!». 5 Ciò vedendo, Aronne costruì un altare davanti al vitello e proclamò: «Domani sarà festa in onore del Signore». 6 Il giorno dopo si alzarono presto, offrirono olocausti e presentarono sacrifici di comunione. Il popolo sedette per mangiare e bere, poi si alzò per darsi al divertimento.
Il Signore avverte Mosè
7 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Và, scendi, perché il tuo popolo, che tu hai fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto, si è pervertito. 8 Non hanno tardato ad allontanarsi dalla via che io avevo loro indicata! Si son fatti un vitello di metallo fuso, poi gli si sono prostrati dinanzi, gli hanno offerto sacrifici e hanno detto: Ecco il tuo Dio, Israele; colui che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese di Egitto».
9 Il Signore disse inoltre a Mosè: «Ho osservato questo popolo e ho visto che è un popolo dalla dura cervice. 10 Ora lascia che la mia ira si accenda contro di loro e li distrugga. Di te invece farò una grande nazione».
Preghiera di Mosè
11 Mosè allora supplicò il Signore, suo Dio, e disse: «Perché, Signore, divamperà la tua ira contro il tuo popolo, che tu hai fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto con grande forza e con mano potente? 12 Perché dovranno dire gli Egiziani: Con malizia li ha fatti uscire, per farli perire tra le montagne e farli sparire dalla terra? Desisti dall'ardore della tua ira e abbandona il proposito di fare del male al tuo popolo. 13 Ricòrdati di Abramo, di Isacco, di Israele, tuoi servi, ai quali hai giurato per te stesso e hai detto: Renderò la vostra posterità numerosa come le stelle del cielo e tutto questo paese, di cui ho parlato, lo darò ai tuoi discendenti, che lo possederanno per sempre».
14 Il Signore abbandonò il proposito di nuocere al suo popolo.
Mosè spezza le tavole della legge
15 Mosè ritornò e scese dalla montagna con in mano le due tavole della Testimonianza, tavole scritte sui due lati, da una parte e dall'altra. 16 Le tavole erano opera di Dio, la scrittura era scrittura di Dio, scolpita sulle tavole.
17 Giosuè sentì il rumore del popolo che urlava e disse a Mosè: «C'è rumore di battaglia nell'accampamento». 18 Ma rispose Mosè:
«Non è il grido di chi canta: Vittoria!
Non è il grido di chi canta: Disfatta!
Il grido di chi canta a due cori
io sento».
19 Quando si fu avvicinato all'accampamento, vide il vitello e le danze. Allora si accese l'ira di Mosè: egli scagliò dalle mani le tavole e le spezzò ai piedi della montagna. 20 Poi afferrò il vitello che quelli avevano fatto, lo bruciò nel fuoco, lo frantumò fino a ridurlo in polvere, ne sparse la polvere nell'acqua e la fece trangugiare agli Israeliti.
21 Mosè disse ad Aronne: «Che ti ha fatto questo popolo, perché tu l'abbia gravato di un peccato così grande?». 22 Aronne rispose: «Non si accenda l'ira del mio signore; tu stesso sai che questo popolo è inclinato al male. 23 Mi dissero: Facci un dio, che cammini alla nostra testa, perché a quel Mosè, l'uomo che ci ha fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto, non sappiamo che cosa sia capitato. 24 Allora io dissi: Chi ha dell'oro? Essi se lo sono tolto, me lo hanno dato; io l'ho gettato nel fuoco e ne è uscito questo vitello».
Zelo dei leviti
25 Mosè vide che il popolo non aveva più freno, perché Aronne gli aveva tolto ogni freno, così da farne il ludibrio dei loro avversari. 26 Mosè si pose alla porta dell'accampamento e disse: «Chi sta con il Signore, venga da me!». Gli si raccolsero intorno tutti i figli di Levi. 27 Gridò loro: «Dice il Signore, il Dio d'Israele: Ciascuno di voi tenga la spada al fianco. Passate e ripassate nell'accampamento da una porta all'altra: uccida ognuno il proprio fratello, ognuno il proprio amico, ognuno il proprio parente».
28 I figli di Levi agirono secondo il comando di Mosè e in quel giorno perirono circa tremila uomini del popolo. 29 Allora Mosè disse: «Ricevete oggi l'investitura dal Signore; ciascuno di voi è stato contro suo figlio e contro suo fratello, perché oggi Egli vi accordasse una benedizione».
Nuova preghiera di Mosè
30 Il giorno dopo Mosè disse al popolo: «Voi avete commesso un grande peccato; ora salirò verso il Signore: forse otterrò il perdono della vostra colpa».
31 Mosè ritornò dal Signore e disse: «Questo popolo ha commesso un grande peccato: si sono fatti un dio d'oro. 32 Ma ora, se tu perdonassi il loro peccato... E se no, cancellami dal tuo libro che hai scritto!».
33 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Io cancellerò dal mio libro colui che ha peccato contro di me. 34 Ora và, conduci il popolo là dove io ti ho detto. Ecco il mio angelo ti precederà; ma nel giorno della mia visita li punirò per il loro peccato».
35 Il Signore percosse il popolo, perché aveva fatto il vitello fabbricato da Aronne.

The Gold Calf
32 When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god[a] who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt—we don’t know what has happened to him!”(A)
2 Then Aaron replied to them, “Take off the gold rings(B) that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off the gold rings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took the gold from their hands, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf.
Then they said, “Israel, this is your God,[b] who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”(C)
5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; then he made an announcement: “There will be a festival(D) to the Lord tomorrow.” 6 Early the next morning they arose, offered burnt offerings, and presented fellowship offerings. The people sat down to eat and drink, then got up to play.(E)
7 The Lord spoke to Moses: “Go down at once! For your people you brought up from the land of Egypt have acted corruptly.(F) 8 They have quickly turned from the way I commanded them; they have made for themselves an image of a calf. They have bowed down to it, sacrificed to it, and said, ‘Israel, this is your God,[c] who brought you up from the land of Egypt.’”(G) 9 The Lord also said to Moses: “I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked(H) people. 10 Now leave Me alone, so that My anger can burn against them and I can destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”(I)
11 But Moses interceded with the Lord his God: “Lord, why does Your anger burn against Your people You brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a strong hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘He brought them out with an evil intent to kill them in the mountains and wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from Your great anger and relent concerning this disaster planned for Your people.(J) 13 Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel—You swore to them by Your very self(K) and declared, ‘I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and will give your offspring all this land that I have promised, and they will inherit it forever.’”(L) 14 So the Lord relented(M) concerning the disaster He said He would bring on His people.
15 Then Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides—inscribed front and back. 16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was God’s writing, engraved on the tablets.(N)
17 When Joshua heard the sound of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a sound of war in the camp.”
18 But Moses replied:
It’s not the sound of a victory cry
and not the sound of a cry of defeat;
I hear the sound of singing!
19 As he approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses became enraged and threw the tablets out of his hands, smashing them at the base of the mountain. 20 Then he took the calf they had made, burned it up, and ground it to powder. He scattered the powder over the surface of the water and forced the Israelites to drink the water.
21 Then Moses asked Aaron, “What did these people do to you that you have led them into such a grave sin?”
22 “Don’t be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know that the people are intent on evil.(O) 23 They said to me, ‘Make us a god[d] who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt—we don’t know what has happened to him!’ 24 So I said to them, ‘Whoever has gold, take it off,’ and they gave it to me. When I threw it into the fire, out came this calf!”
25 Moses saw that the people were out of control, for Aaron had let them get out of control, resulting in weakness before their enemies.[e] 26 And Moses stood at the camp’s entrance and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” And all the Levites gathered around him. 27 He told them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘Every man fasten his sword to his side; go back and forth through the camp from entrance to entrance, and each of you kill his brother, his friend, and his neighbor.’”(P) 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and about 3,000 men fell dead that day among the people. 29 Afterward Moses said, “Today you have been dedicated[f] to the Lord, since each man went against his son and his brother. Therefore you have brought a blessing on yourselves today.”(Q)
30 The following day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a grave sin. Now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I will be able to atone for your sin.”(R)
31 So Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Oh, these people have committed a grave sin; they have made a god of gold for themselves.(S) 32 Now if You would only forgive their sin. But if not, please erase me from the book You have written.”(T)
33 The Lord replied to Moses: “I will erase whoever has sinned against Me from My book.(U) 34 Now go, lead the people to the place I told you about; see, My angel will go before you. But on the day I settle accounts, I will hold them accountable for their sin.”(V) 35 And the Lord inflicted a plague on the people for what they did with the calf Aaron had made.

The Golden Calf
32 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain,(A) they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods[a] who will go before(B) us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”(C)
2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings(D) that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol(E) cast in the shape of a calf,(F) fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods,[b](G) Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”(H)
5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival(I) to the Lord.” 6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings.(J) Afterward they sat down to eat and drink(K) and got up to indulge in revelry.(L)
7 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt,(M) have become corrupt.(N) 8 They have been quick to turn away(O) from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol(P) cast in the shape of a calf.(Q) They have bowed down to it and sacrificed(R) to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’(S)
9 “I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked(T) people. 10 Now leave me alone(U) so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy(V) them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”(W)
11 But Moses sought the favor(X) of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?(Y) 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’?(Z) Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster(AA) on your people. 13 Remember(AB) your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self:(AC) ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars(AD) in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land(AE) I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” 14 Then the Lord relented(AF) and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
15 Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant law(AG) in his hands.(AH) They were inscribed(AI) on both sides, front and back. 16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.(AJ)
17 When Joshua(AK) heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, “There is the sound of war in the camp.”
18 Moses replied:
“It is not the sound of victory,
it is not the sound of defeat;
it is the sound of singing that I hear.”
19 When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf(AL) and the dancing,(AM) his anger burned(AN) and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces(AO) at the foot of the mountain. 20 And he took the calf the people had made and burned(AP) it in the fire; then he ground it to powder,(AQ) scattered it on the water(AR) and made the Israelites drink it.
21 He said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?”
22 “Do not be angry,(AS) my lord,” Aaron answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil.(AT) 23 They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.’(AU) 24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.’ Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!”(AV)
25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock(AW) to their enemies. 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” And all the Levites rallied to him.
27 Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.’”(AX) 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. 29 Then Moses said, “You have been set apart to the Lord today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day.”
30 The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin.(AY) But now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement(AZ) for your sin.”
31 So Moses went back to the Lord and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed!(BA) They have made themselves gods of gold.(BB) 32 But now, please forgive their sin(BC)—but if not, then blot me(BD) out of the book(BE) you have written.”
33 The Lord replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out(BF) of my book. 34 Now go, lead(BG) the people to the place(BH) I spoke of, and my angel(BI) will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish,(BJ) I will punish them for their sin.”
35 And the Lord struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf(BK) Aaron had made.

9 And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
11 And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
18 And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
21 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)
26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.
30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the Lord; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
31 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
35 And the Lord plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
