The Tabernacle

26 “Moreover, ^(A)you shall make the ^(B)tabernacle with ten curtains of ^(C)fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns; you shall make them with cherubim ^(D)skillfully worked into them. ²The length of each curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits,^[a] and the breadth of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains shall be the same size. ³Five curtains shall be coupled to one another, and the other five curtains shall be coupled to one another. ⁴And you shall make loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set. Likewise you shall make loops on the edge of the outermost curtain in the second set. ⁵Fifty loops you shall make on the one curtain, and fifty loops you shall make on the edge of the curtain that is in the second set; the loops shall be opposite one another. ⁶And you shall make fifty clasps of gold, and couple the curtains one to the other with the clasps, so that the tabernacle may be a single whole.

⁷“You shall also make ^(E)curtains of goats' hair for a tent over the tabernacle; eleven curtains shall you make. ⁸The length of each curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. The eleven curtains shall be the same size. ⁹You shall couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and the sixth curtain you shall double over at the front of the tent. ¹⁰You shall make fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in one set, and fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in the second set.

¹¹“You shall make fifty clasps of bronze, and put the clasps into the loops, and couple the tent together that it may be a single whole. ¹²And the part that remains of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remains, shall hang over the back of the tabernacle. ¹³And the extra that remains in the length of the curtains, the cubit on the one side, and the cubit on the other side, shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle, on this side and that side, to cover it. ¹⁴^(F)And you shall make for the tent a covering of tanned ^(G)rams' skins^[b] and a covering of goatskins on top.

¹⁵“You shall make upright frames for the tabernacle of acacia wood. ¹⁶Ten cubits shall be the length of a frame, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each frame. ¹⁷There shall be two tenons in each frame, for fitting together. So shall you do for all the frames of the tabernacle. ¹⁸You shall make the frames for the tabernacle: twenty frames for the south side; ¹⁹and forty bases of silver you shall make under the twenty frames, two bases under one frame for its two tenons, and two bases under the next frame for its two tenons; ²⁰and for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side twenty frames, ²¹and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one frame, and two bases under the next frame. ²²And for the rear of the tabernacle westward you shall make six frames. ²³And you shall make two frames for corners of the tabernacle in the rear; ²⁴they shall be separate beneath, but joined at the top, at the first ring. Thus shall it be with both of them; they shall form the two corners. ²⁵And there shall be eight frames, with their bases of silver, sixteen bases; two bases under one frame, and two bases under another frame.

²⁶“You shall make bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle, ²⁷and five bars for the frames of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the frames of the side of the tabernacle at the rear westward. ²⁸The middle bar, halfway up the frames, shall run from end to end. ²⁹You shall overlay the frames with gold and shall make their rings of gold for ^(H)holders for the bars, and you shall overlay the bars with gold. ³⁰Then you shall erect the tabernacle ^(I)according to the plan for it that you were shown on the mountain.

³¹^(J)“And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and ^(K)fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim ^(L)skillfully worked into it. ³²And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver. ³³And you shall hang ^(M)the veil from the clasps, and bring ^(N)the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy. ³⁴^(O)You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place. ³⁵And ^(P)you shall set the table outside the veil, and the ^(Q)lampstand on the south side of the tabernacle opposite the table, and you shall put the table on the north side.

³⁶“You shall make a ^(R)screen for the entrance of the tent, of ^(S)blue and purple and scarlet yarns and ^(T)fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework. ³⁷And you shall make for the screen five pillars of acacia, and overlay them with gold. Their hooks shall be of gold, and you shall cast five bases of bronze for them.

And he was standing in the gateway. ⁴And the man said to me, ^(K)“Son of man, ^(L)look with your eyes, and ^(M)hear with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you. ^(N)Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”

The East Gate to the Outer Court

⁵And behold, there was ^(O)a wall all around the outside of the temple area, and the length of the measuring reed in the man's hand was six long cubits, ^(P)each being a cubit and a handbreadth^[b] in length. So he measured the thickness of the wall, one reed; and the height, one reed. ⁶Then he went into ^(Q)the gateway facing east, ^(R)going up its steps, and measured the threshold of the gate, one reed deep.^[c] ⁷And ^(S)the side rooms, one reed long and one reed broad; and the space between the side rooms, five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the vestibule of the gate at the inner end, one reed. ⁸Then he measured the vestibule of the gateway, on the inside, one reed. ⁹Then he measured the vestibule of the gateway, eight cubits; ^(T)and its jambs, two cubits; and the vestibule of the gate was at the inner end. ¹⁰And there were three side rooms on either side of the east gate. ^(U)The three were of the same size, and the jambs on either side were of the same size. ¹¹Then he measured the width of the opening of the gateway, ten cubits; and the length of the gateway, thirteen cubits. ¹²There was a barrier before the side rooms, one cubit on either side. The Outer Court

¹⁷Then he brought me into ^(Z)the outer court. And behold, there were ^(AA)chambers and a ^(AB)pavement, all around the court. ^(AC)Thirty chambers faced the pavement. ¹⁸And the pavement ran along the side of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates. This was the lower pavement. ¹⁹Then he measured the distance from the inner front of the lower gate to the outer front of the inner court,^[e] a hundred cubits on the east side and on the north side.^[f]

The North Gate

²⁰As for ^(AD)the gate that faced toward the north, belonging to ^(AE)the outer court, he measured its length and its breadth. ²¹Its ^(AF)side rooms, three on either side, and its jambs and its vestibule were of the same size as those of ^(AG)the first gate. Its length was ^(AH)fifty cubits, and its breadth ^(AI)twenty-five cubits. ²²And ^(AJ)its windows, its vestibule, and ^(AK)its palm trees were of the same size as those of the gate that faced toward the east. And by seven steps ^(AL)people would go up to it, and find its vestibule before them. ²³And opposite the gate on the north, as on the east, was a gate to ^(AM)the inner court. And ^(AN)he measured from gate to gate, a hundred cubits.

The South Gate

²⁴And he led me toward the south, and behold, there was a gate on the south. And ^(AO)he measured its jambs and its vestibule; they had the same size as the others. ²⁵Both it and its vestibule ^(AP)had windows all around, like the windows of the others. Its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits. ²⁶And there were seven steps leading up to it, and its vestibule was before them, and it had ^(AQ)palm trees on its jambs, one on either side. ²⁷And there was a gate on the south of ^(AR)the inner court. And he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubits.

The Inner Court

²⁸Then he brought me to ^(AS)the inner court through the south gate, and ^(AT)he measured the south gate. It was of the same size as the others. ²⁹Its ^(AU)side rooms, its jambs, and its vestibule were of the same size as the others, and both it and its vestibule ^(AV)had windows all around. ^(AW)Its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits. ³⁰And there were vestibules all around, twenty-five cubits long and five cubits broad. ³¹Its vestibule faced the outer court, and ^(AX)palm trees were on its jambs, and ^(AY)its stairway had eight steps.

³²Then he brought me to the inner court on the east side, and ^(AZ)he measured the gate. It was of the same size as the others. ³³Its side rooms, its jambs, and its vestibule were of the same size as the others, and both it and its vestibule had windows all around. Its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits. ³⁴^(BA)Its vestibule faced the outer court, and it had palm trees on its jambs, on either side, and its stairway had eight steps.

³⁵Then he brought me to ^(BB)the north gate, and ^(BC)he measured it. It had the same size as the others. ³⁶Its side rooms, its jambs, and its vestibule were of the same size as the others,^[g] and it had windows all around. Its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits. ³⁷Its vestibule^[h] faced the outer court, and it had palm trees on its jambs, on either side, and its stairway had eight steps.

³⁸There was ^(BD)a chamber with its door in the vestibule of the gate,^[i] ^(BE)where the burnt offering was to be washed. ³⁹And in the vestibule of the gate were two ^(BF)tables on either side, on which the ^(BG)burnt offering and the ^(BH)sin offering and the ^(BI)guilt offering were to be slaughtered. ⁴⁰And off to the side, on the outside as one goes up to the entrance of the north gate, were two tables; and off to the other side of the vestibule of the gate were two tables. ⁴¹^(BJ)Four tables were on either side of the gate, eight tables, ^(BK)on which to slaughter. ⁴²And there were four tables ^(BL)of hewn stone for the burnt offering, a cubit and a half long, and a cubit and a half broad, and one cubit high, on which the instruments were to be laid with which the ^(BM)burnt offerings and the sacrifices were slaughtered.
