¹⁰ I have seen ^(A)the business that ^(B)God has given to the children of man to be busy with.

¹³ And I ^(A)applied my heart^[a] to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy ^(B)business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. ¹⁴ I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is ^(C)vanity^[b] and a striving after wind.^[c]

²⁶ For to the one who pleases him ^(A)God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given ^(B)the business of gathering and collecting, ^(C)only to give to one who pleases God. ^(D)This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

⁸ nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but ^(A)with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you.

⁹ For you remember, brothers, ^(A)our labor and toil: we ^(B)worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
