10 死んだハエは香水さえ臭くし、
ほんの少しの失敗は
多くの知恵と名誉をだいなしにする。
2 知恵ある者は正しい道に足を向け、
愚か者は悪の道に向かう。
3 どこを歩くかで、
その人が賢いのか愚かなのかがわかる。
4 上司にしかられても、職場を放棄してはいけません。
冷静な態度は、相手の不きげんをなだめます。
5 世の中の移り変わりを見ていると、
もう一つの悪が目についた。
王や支配者たちの嘆かわしい有様だ。
6 愚か者に大きな権威が与えられているのに、
富む者に当然と思える社会的地位さえ
与えられていないことがある。
7 また、召使が馬にまたがり、
君主が召使のように歩いている姿を見た。
8-9 井戸を掘ると中に落ち、
古い石垣を壊すと蛇にかまれる。
採石場で働いていると落石に会い、
伐採場では斧を振り上げるたびに危険にさらされる。
10 斧の切れ味が悪くなると、余計な力がいる。
そんなときには刃を研ぐことだ。
11 馬が盗まれてから馬小屋に鍵をかけても、
もう遅い。
12-13 知恵あることばは心地よいが、
愚か者のおしゃべりは身を滅ぼします。
愚か者の話は前置きがばかげ、
結論も常軌を逸している。
14 愚か者は将来について知っているふりをして、
事細かに話して聞かせる。
しかし、これから起こることは、
だれにもわからない。
15 愚か者は大した仕事でもないのにうろたえ、
ささいなことにも力を出せない。
16-17 王が幼く、指導者たちが朝から酔っている国は、
とんでもない目に会う。
王が名門の出で、
指導者たちが勤勉を第一と心がけていて、
これからの仕事のための英気を養うときにだけ
宴会を開いている国は幸せです。
18 怠けていると、天井から雨がもり、
梁が落ちる。
19 祝宴は笑いを、ぶどう酒は幸福感を、
金銭はすべてのものをあたえる。
20 たとえ心の中でも、
王をのろってはいけない。
金持ちをのろってもいけない。
小鳥が彼らに、
あなたがどんなことを言ったかを告げるからだ。
良いことを手がけなさい
11 惜しみなく与えなさい。
あなたが与えた者は、
あとになって戻って来るからだ。
2 持っているものを、人々に分け与えなさい。
あとになってあなたも、
人から助けてもらうことになるからだ。
3 雲が垂れこめると雨が降り出し、
木が北風か南風で倒されると、
そのままそこで朽ち果てる。
4 しかし、風の状態が良くなるまで待っていたら、
何一つなすことはできません。
5 神のすることは風の通り道と同様に神秘的です。それはまた、母親の胎内の赤ん坊にたましいが吹き込まれるのと同じように不思議なものです。 6 手を休めずに種をまきなさい。どの種が芽を出すか、わからないからです。もしかしたら、全部芽を出すかもしれません。
若い時に創造者を覚えなさい
7 生きていることは実にすばらしいことです。 8 長生きしている人は、一日一日を存分に楽しみなさい。ただし永遠と比べたら、地上のことはみなむなしいことを覚えておきなさい。
9 若い人よ。若いことは実にすばらしいことです。若い日を存分に楽しみなさい。したいことは何でもしなさい。欲しいものは何でも手に入れなさい。しかし、自分のしたことはみな、神の前で申し開きをしなければならないことを覚えておきなさい。
10 だから、悲しみと痛みを取り除きなさい。しかし、これから長い人生が待ち受けている若い日にも、過ちを犯してしまうことを忘れてはいけません。
12 若い日を夢中で楽しむあまり、あなたの造り主を忘れてはいけません。生きていることを楽しむ余裕などない逆境の時が来る前に、神を信じなさい。 2 年を取り、日の光や月、星がかすんでよく見えず、夢も希望もなくなってから、神を思い出そうとしても手遅れです。 3 やがて、手足が老齢のため震えるようになり、しっかりしていた足も弱くなり、歯がなくなって食べ物もかめず、目も見えなくなる時がきます。 4 歯がなくなったら、物を食べるときは口を開かないようにしなさい。鳥がさえずり始める朝早く目が覚めても、耳が遠くて聞こえず、声もしわがれてきます。 5 あなたは白髪でしわだらけの老人となり、高い所を怖がり、転ぶことを心配しながら足を引きずって歩きます。性欲もなく、死の門のそばに立ち、死んだ人を嘆く者のように永遠の家へと近づいて行きます。
6 もう一度言います。あなたの若い日に、あなたの造り主を覚えなさい。銀色のいのちのひもが切れ、金の器が壊れ、水がめが泉のそばで壊れ、滑車が井戸のそばで壊れてしまう前に。 7 やがて、ちりは元の地に帰り、たましいは、これを授けた神のもとに帰ります。 8 伝道者は言います。すべて何もかもむなしい、と。
伝道者が出した結論
9 しかし、伝道者は知恵があったので、自分の知っていることを全部人に教えました。また、さまざまの人生訓を集め、それを分類しました。 10 知恵があっただけでなく、優れた教師でもあったからです。伝道者は人々に、自分の知っていることを興味深く教えました。
11 知恵ある人のことばは、家畜を追い立てる突き棒のようなものです。大切な真理を逃しません。教師の語ることを身につける学生は賢い学生です。
12 若い人よ、注意しなさい。人の意見には際限がありません。それを全部学ぼうと思うなら、いつになっても終わりがなく、疲れ果ててしまいます。
13 これが私の最終的な結論です。神を恐れ、その命令に従いなさい。これこそ人間の本分です。 14 神は私たちのすることをすべて、隠れたこともすべて、善も悪も、みなさばくのです。

10 As dead flies give perfume a bad smell,
so a little folly(A) outweighs wisdom and honor.
2 The heart of the wise inclines to the right,
but the heart of the fool to the left.
3 Even as fools walk along the road,
they lack sense
and show everyone(B) how stupid they are.
4 If a ruler’s anger rises against you,
do not leave your post;(C)
calmness can lay great offenses to rest.(D)
5 There is an evil I have seen under the sun,
the sort of error that arises from a ruler:
6 Fools are put in many high positions,(E)
while the rich occupy the low ones.
7 I have seen slaves on horseback,
while princes go on foot like slaves.(F)
8 Whoever digs a pit may fall into it;(G)
whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.(H)
9 Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them;
whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.(I)
10 If the ax is dull
and its edge unsharpened,
more strength is needed,
but skill will bring success.
11 If a snake bites before it is charmed,
the charmer receives no fee.(J)
12 Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious,(K)
but fools are consumed by their own lips.(L)
13 At the beginning their words are folly;
at the end they are wicked madness—
14 and fools multiply words.(M)
No one knows what is coming—
who can tell someone else what will happen after them?(N)
15 The toil of fools wearies them;
they do not know the way to town.
16 Woe to the land whose king was a servant[a](O)
and whose princes feast in the morning.
17 Blessed is the land whose king is of noble birth
and whose princes eat at a proper time—
for strength and not for drunkenness.(P)
18 Through laziness, the rafters sag;
because of idle hands, the house leaks.(Q)
19 A feast is made for laughter,
wine(R) makes life merry,
and money is the answer for everything.
20 Do not revile the king(S) even in your thoughts,
or curse the rich in your bedroom,
because a bird in the sky may carry your words,
and a bird on the wing may report what you say.
Invest in Many Ventures
11 Ship(T) your grain across the sea;
after many days you may receive a return.(U)
2 Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight;
you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water,
they pour rain on the earth.
Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north,
in the place where it falls, there it will lie.
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,(V)
or how the body is formed[b] in a mother’s womb,(W)
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,(X)
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
Remember Your Creator While Young
7 Light is sweet,
and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.(Y)
8 However many years anyone may live,
let them enjoy them all.
But let them remember(Z) the days of darkness,
for there will be many.
Everything to come is meaningless.
9 You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you into judgment.(AA)
10 So then, banish anxiety(AB) from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless.(AC)
12 Remember(AD) your Creator
in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble(AE) come
and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—
2 before the sun and the light
and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
3 when the keepers of the house tremble,
and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4 when the doors to the street are closed
and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
but all their songs grow faint;(AF)
5 when people are afraid of heights
and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms
and the grasshopper drags itself along
and desire no longer is stirred.
Then people go to their eternal home(AG)
and mourners(AH) go about the streets.
6 Remember him—before the silver cord is severed,
and the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
and the wheel broken at the well,
7 and the dust returns(AI) to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God(AJ) who gave it.(AK)
The Conclusion of the Matter
9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs.(AN) 10 The Teacher(AO) searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.(AP)
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails(AQ)—given by one shepherd.[d] 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.(AR)

94 1-2 復讐の神である主よ。

地上の人々をさばき、

3 主よ、いつまで悪者は勝ち誇り、
有頂天でいるのですか。
4 あの横柄なことば、尊大な態度、
自慢げな様子をごらんください。
5 ああ主よ。彼らは、あなたが愛しておられる人々を
あれほどまで悩ませています。
6-7 「主に知れるわけがない。
神は気にかけることもない」と、
未亡人や移民、みなしごなどを殺します。
8 愚か者どもよ。

10 世界をおさばきになる方が、

1 The Lord is a God who avenges.(A)
O God who avenges, shine forth.(B)
2 Rise up,(C) Judge(D) of the earth;
pay back(E) to the proud what they deserve.
3 How long, Lord, will the wicked,
how long will the wicked be jubilant?(F)
4 They pour out arrogant(G) words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting.(H)
5 They crush your people,(I) Lord;
they oppress your inheritance.(J)
6 They slay the widow(K) and the foreigner;
they murder the fatherless.(L)
7 They say, “The Lord does not see;(M)
the God of Jacob(N) takes no notice.”
8 Take notice, you senseless ones(O) among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?(P)
10 Does he who disciplines(Q) nations not punish?

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,(AF)”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
19 When anxiety(AG) was great within me,
your consolation(AH) brought me joy.
20 Can a corrupt throne(AI) be allied with you—
a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?(AJ)
21 The wicked band together(AK) against the righteous
and condemn the innocent(AL) to death.(AM)
22 But the Lord has become my fortress,
and my God the rock(AN) in whom I take refuge.(AO)
23 He will repay(AP) them for their sins

3 あなたがたの間に、性的な罪やふしだらな行い、貪欲があってはなりません。そんなことで、だれからも非難されないようにしなさい。 4 みだらな会話や下品な冗談は、あなたがたにふさわしくありません。むしろ、互いに神の恵みを心にとめて、感謝しなさい。 5 もうよくご存じと思いますが、キリストと神との国に、汚れた人や貪欲な人は入ることができません。貪欲な人は偶像礼拝者であって、神よりもこの世のものを愛して拝んでいるのです。

15-16 ですから、自分の行動によくよく注意しなさい。今は困難な時代です。愚か者にならないで、賢くなりなさい。あらゆる機会を十分に生かして、正しい行いをしなさい。 17 軽率に行動せず、主が望んでおられることを実行しなさい。 18 酒を飲みすぎてはいけません。そこには多くの悪が潜んでいるからです。むしろ、御霊に満たされ、支配していただきなさい。 19 聖なる歌をうたい、心の中で主に向かって賛美しながら、互いに主について語り合いなさい。 20 いつも、あらゆることを、主イエス・キリストの名によって、父なる神に感謝しなさい。
幸福な家庭をつくるには
21 互いに従順になって、キリストをたたえなさい。
22 妻は、主に従うように夫に従いなさい。 23 なぜなら、キリストの体である教会がキリストにゆだねられているように、妻は夫にゆだねられているからです。 24 そういうわけですから、妻は、教会がキリストに従うように、どんなことでも喜んで夫に従わなければなりません。 25 また夫は、教会のためにいのちを捨てるほどの愛を示されたキリストにならって、妻を愛しなさい。 26 キリストがそうなさったのは、バプテスマ（洗礼）と神のことばで教会を洗いきよめ、きよく、汚れのないものとするためでした。 27 こうして、一点のしみも、しわも、何の傷もない、きよく完全な栄光の教会として迎え入れようとされたのです。 28 これこそ、夫が妻に対してとるべき態度です。つまり、夫は妻を、自分の体の一部のように愛さなければなりません。二人は一体なのですから、夫が妻を愛する時、自分自身を愛しているのです。 29-30 自分の体を憎む者はいません。愛し、いたわります。それは、キリストが自分の体である教会をそうされたのと同じです。私たちは、その体の各部分なのです。 31 夫と妻が一体であることは、聖書もはっきり証言しています。「人は結婚する時、父母のもとを離れなければならない。それは、完全に結びついて、二人が一心同体となるためである。」（創世2・24） 32 これには深い理解が必要ですが、私たちがキリストの体の各部分であることを説明するには適切な例です。

5 1 Follow God’s example,(A) therefore, as dearly loved children(B) 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us(C) and gave himself up for us(D) as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.(E)
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,(F) or of any kind of impurity, or of greed,(G) because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk(H) or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.(I) 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater(J)—has any inheritance(K) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a](L) 6 Let no one deceive you(M) with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath(N) comes on those who are disobedient.(O) 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
8 For you were once(P) darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light(Q) 9 (for the fruit(R) of the light consists in all goodness,(S) righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.(T) 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,(U) but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light(V) becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
15 Be very careful, then, how you live(Z)—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity,(AA) because the days are evil.(AB) 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.(AC) 18 Do not get drunk on wine,(AD) which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,(AE) 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.(AF) Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks(AG) to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Instructions for Christian Households(AH)
21 Submit to one another(AI) out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands(AJ) as you do to the Lord.(AK) 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church,(AL) his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands(AM) in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives,(AN) just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her(AO) 26 to make her holy,(AP) cleansing[b] her by the washing(AQ) with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself(AR) as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.(AS) 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives(AT) as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.(AU) 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[c](AV) 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife(AW) as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
