⁵ And ^(A)you shall love the Lord your God ^(B)with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

² For people will be ^(A)lovers of self, ^(B)lovers of money, ^(C)boastful, ^(D)arrogant, ^(E)slanderers, ^(F)disobedient to parents, ^(G)ungrateful, ^(H)unholy, ^3 (I)unloving, irreconcilable, ^(J)malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, ^[a](K)haters of good, ^4 (L)treacherous, ^(M)reckless, ^(N)conceited, ^(O)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ holding to a form of ^[b](P)godliness although they have ^(Q)denied its power; ^(R)avoid such people as these.

Do Not Love the World

¹⁵ Do not love ^(A)the world nor the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, ^(C)the lust of the flesh and ^(D)the lust of the eyes and ^(E)the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. ^17 (F)The world is passing away and also its lusts; but the one who ^(G)does the will of God continues to live forever.

God Is Love

^7 (A)Beloved, let’s ^(B)love one another; for love is from God, and ^(C)everyone who loves has been ^(D)born of God and ^(E)knows God. ⁸ The one who does not love does not know God, because ^(F)God is love.
