Deuteronomy 1:23-25
New English Translation
23 I thought this was a good idea,[a] so I sent[b] twelve men from among you, one from each tribe. 24 They left and went up to the hill country, coming to the Eshcol Valley,[c] which they scouted out. 25 Then they took[d] some of the produce of the land and carried it back down to us. They also brought a report to us, saying, “The land that the Lord our God is about to give us is good.”

23 “The plan pleased me well; so (A)I took twelve of your men, one man from each tribe. 24 (B)And they departed and went up into the mountains, and came to the Valley of Eshcol, and spied it out. 25 They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, ‘It is a (C)good land which the Lord our God is giving us.’
