¹⁶ He fed you in the wilderness with manna,^(A) which your ancestors had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.

¹⁰ Many will be purified,^(A) cleansed, and refined,^(B) but the wicked will act wickedly;^(C) none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.^(D)

² But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will be able to stand when he appears?^(A) For he will be like a refiner’s fire^(B) and like launderer’s bleach.^{[a](C) 3} He will be like a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver.^(D) Then they will present offerings to the Lord in righteousness.
