16 “So it happened when (A)all the men of war had come to an end in death from among the people, 17 that Yahweh spoke to me, saying, 18 ‘Today you are about to cross over (B)Ar, the border of Moab. 19 And you will come opposite the (C)sons of Ammon. Do not harass them nor provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the sons of Ammon as a possession because I have given it to (D)the sons of Lot as a possession.’ 20 (It is also regarded as the land of the (E)Rephaim, for Rephaim formerly lived in it, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummin, 21 a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim, but Yahweh destroyed them before them. And they dispossessed them and settled in their place, 22 just as He did for the sons of Esau, who (F)live in Seir, when He destroyed (G)the Horites from before them; they dispossessed them and settled in their place even to this day. 23 And the (H)Avvim, who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the [a](I)Caphtorim who came from [b](J)Caphtor, destroyed them and lived in their place.) 24 ‘Arise, set out, and pass through the [c](K)valley of Arnon. Look! I have given Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand; begin to take possession and provoke him to battle. 25 This day I will begin to put (L)the dread and fear of you [d]upon the peoples [e]everywhere under the heavens, who, when they hear the report of you, (M)will tremble and be in anguish because of you.’

16 “So it was, when all the men of war had finally perished from among the people, 17 that the Lord spoke to me, saying: 18 ‘This day you are to cross over at Ar, the boundary of Moab. 19 And when you come near the people of Ammon, do not harass them or meddle with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to (A)the descendants of Lot as a possession.’ ”

20 (That was also regarded as a land of [a]giants; giants formerly dwelt there. But the Ammonites call them (B)Zamzummim, 21 (C)a people as great and numerous and tall as the Anakim. 24 “ ‘Rise, take your journey, and (H)cross over the River Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand (I)Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin [b]to possess it, and engage him in battle. 25 (J)This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the nations [c]under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you, and shall (K)tremble and be in anguish because of you.’

16 Now when the last of these fighting men among the people had died, 17 the Lord said to me, 18 “Today you are to pass by the region of Moab at Ar.(A) 19 When you come to the Ammonites,(B) do not harass them or provoke them to war,(C) for I will not give you possession of any land belonging to the Ammonites. I have given it as a possession to the descendants of Lot.(D)

20 (That too was considered a land of the Rephaites,(E) who used to live there; but the Ammonites called them Zamzummites. 21 They were a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.(F) The Lord destroyed them from before the Ammonites, who drove them out and settled in their place. 22 The Lord had done the same for the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir,(G) when he destroyed the Horites from before them. They drove them out and have lived in their place to this day. 23 And as for the Avvites(H) who lived in villages as far as Gaza,(I) the Caphtorites(J) coming out from Caphtor[a](K) destroyed them and settled in their place.)
