41 (A)Then you said to me, ‘We have sinned against Yahweh; we will indeed go up and fight, just as Yahweh our God commanded us.’ And every man of you girded on his weapons of war and regarded it as easy to go up into the hill country. 42 (B)And Yahweh said to me, ‘Say to them, “Do not go up and do not fight—for I am not among you—so that you are not [a]defeated before your enemies.”’ 43 So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead (C)you rebelled against the [b]command of Yahweh and acted presumptuously and went up into the hill country. 44 (D)And the Amorites who [c]lived in that hill country came out to meet you and pursued you (E)as bees do and crushed you from Seir to Hormah. 45 Then you returned and wept before Yahweh; but (F)Yahweh did not listen to your voice nor give ear to you. 46 So you remained in (G)Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained there.

You rebelled against the Lord’s command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country. 44 The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees(B) and beat you down from Seir(C) all the way to Hormah.(D) 45 You came back and wept before the Lord,(E) but he paid no attention(F) to your weeping and turned a deaf ear(G) to you. 46 And so you stayed in Kadesh(H) many days—all the time you spent there.
