²⁸ Where can we go up? Our brethren have ^[a]discouraged our hearts, saying, ^(A)“The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the ^(B)Anakim there.” ’

^10 (A)(The Emim had dwelt there in times past, a people as great and numerous and tall as ^(B)the Anakim. ¹¹ They were also regarded as ^[a]giants, like the Anakim, but the Moabites call them Emim.

^21 (A)a people as great and numerous and tall as the Anakim. But the Lord destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them and dwelt in their place,

² a people great and tall, the ^(A)descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?’
