¹⁶ And to the Reubenites ^(A)and the Gadites I gave from Gilead as far as the River Arnon, the middle of the river as the border, as far as the River Jabbok, ^(B)the border of the people of Ammon;

²⁴ Then ^(A)Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified.

⁵ And they crossed over the Jordan and camped in ^(A)Aroer, on the right side of the town which is in the midst of the ravine of Gad, and toward ^(B)Jazer.

³⁷ Only you did not go near the land of the people of Ammon—anywhere along the River ^(A)Jabbok, or to the cities of the mountains, or ^(B)wherever the Lord our God had forbidden us.

² One king was ^(A)Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and ruled half of Gilead, from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, from the middle of that river, even as far as the River Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites, ³ and ^(B)the eastern Jordan plain from the ^[a]Sea of Chinneroth as far as the ^[b]Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), ^(C)the road to Beth Jeshimoth, and ^[c]southward below ^(D)the^[d] slopes of Pisgah.

³³ So ^(A)Moses gave to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, ^(B)the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding country. ³⁴ And the children of Gad built ^(C)Dibon and Ataroth and ^(D)Aroer, ³⁵ Atroth and Shophan and ^(E)Jazer and Jogbehah, ^36 (F)Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran, ^(G)fortified cities, and folds for sheep. ³⁷ And the children of Reuben built ^(H)Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim, ^38 (I)Nebo and ^(J)Baal Meon ^(K)(their names being changed) and Shibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.

²² And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, ^(A)and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.
