¹⁶ He shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place that he shall choose within one of your towns, wherever it suits him. You shall not wrong him.

^21 (A)“You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

^9 (A)“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

⁶ But you ^(A)have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who ^(B)drag you ^(C)into court?

^2 (A)to speak evil of no one, ^(B)to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and ^(C)to show perfect courtesy toward all people. ³ For ^(D)we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

¹⁵ So he went and hired himself out to^[a] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. ¹⁶ And he ^(A)was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

¹⁷ “But ^(B)when he ^(C)came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! ¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, ^(D)I have sinned against ^(E)heaven and before you. ^19 (F)I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ ²⁰ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ^(G)ran and ^(H)embraced him and ^(I)kissed him. ²¹ And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. ^(J)I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’^{[b] 22} But the father said to his servants,^[c] ‘Bring quickly ^(K)the best robe, and put it on him, and put ^(L)a ring on his hand, and ^(M)shoes on his feet. ²³ And bring ^(N)the fattened calf and kill it, and ^(O)let us eat and celebrate. ²⁴ For this my son ^(P)was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

⁵ “Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be ^(A)a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those ^(B)who oppress the hired worker in his wages, ^(C)the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.

^10 (A)do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, ^(B)or the poor, and ^(C)let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.”

⁶ if you ^(A)do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, ^(B)or shed innocent blood in this place, ^(C)and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,
