The Festival of Tabernacles^(A)

¹³ Celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your threshing floor^(B) and your winepress.^(C)

¹⁶ “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest^(A) with the firstfruits^(B) of the crops you sow in your field.

“Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering^(C) at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.^(D)

² But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles^(A) was near,

³ And all the Israelites^(A) came together to the king at the time of the festival in the seventh month.

³⁴ “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh^(A) month the Lord’s Festival of Tabernacles^(B) begins, and it lasts for seven days. ³⁵ The first day is a sacred assembly;^(C) do no regular work.^{(D) 36} For seven days present food offerings to the Lord, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly^(E) and present a food offering to the Lord.^(F) It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work.

¹⁶ Then the survivors^(A) from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship^(B) the King,^(C) the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.^{(D) 17} If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship^(E) the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.^{(F) 18} If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The Lord^[a] will bring on them the plague^(G) he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.^(H)

¹⁴ They found written in the Law, which the Lord had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to live in temporary shelters^(A) during the festival of the seventh month ¹⁵ and that they should proclaim this word and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem: “Go out into the hill country and bring back branches from olive and wild olive trees, and from myrtles, palms and shade trees, to make temporary shelters”—as it is written.^[a]

¹⁶ So the people went out and brought back branches and built themselves temporary shelters on their own roofs, in their courtyards, in the courts of the house of God and in the square by the Water Gate^(B) and the one by the Gate of Ephraim.^{(C) 17} The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them.^(D) From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated^(E) it like this. And their joy was very great.

¹⁸ Day after day, from the first day to the last, Ezra read^(F) from the Book of the Law^(G) of God. They celebrated the festival for seven days, and on the eighth day, in accordance with the regulation,^(H) there was an assembly.^(I)

⁴ Then in accordance with what is written, they celebrated the Festival of Tabernacles^(A) with the required number of burnt offerings prescribed for each day.

¹³ according to the daily requirement^(A) for offerings commanded by Moses for the Sabbaths,^(B) the New Moons^(C) and the three^(D) annual festivals—the Festival of Unleavened Bread,^(E) the Festival of Weeks^(F) and the Festival of Tabernacles.^(G)
