Deuteronomy 8:3-5
New Living Translation
3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell. 5 Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.

3 He humbled(A) you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna,(B) which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach(C) you that man does not live on bread(D) alone but on every word that comes from the mouth(E) of the Lord.(F) 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.(G) 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.(H)
