“So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we [a]attacked him until he had no survivors remaining. And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, (A)all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns. And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king (B)of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city. But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves.

“And at that time we took the (C)land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were on this side of the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount (D)Hermon (the Sidonians call (E)Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir), 10 (F)all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and (G)all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 (H)“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of (I)the [b]giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead. (Is it not in (J)Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.

So the Lord our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his army. We struck them down,(A) leaving no survivors.(B) At that time we took all his cities.(C) There was not one of the sixty cities that we did not take from them—the whole region of Argob, Og’s kingdom(D) in Bashan.(E) All these cities were fortified with high walls and with gates and bars, and there were also a great many unwalled villages. We completely destroyed[a] them, as we had done with Sihon king of Heshbon, destroying[b](F) every city—men, women and children. But all the livestock(G) and the plunder from their cities we carried off for ourselves.

So at that time we took from these two kings of the Amorites(H) the territory east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge as far as Mount Hermon.(I) (Hermon is called Sirion(J) by the Sidonians; the Amorites call it Senir.)(K) 10 We took all the towns on the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salekah(L) and Edrei, towns of Og’s kingdom in Bashan. 11 (Og king of Bashan was the last of the Rephaites.(M) His bed was decorated with iron and was more than nine cubits long and four cubits wide.[c] It is still in Rabbah(N) of the Ammonites.)

24 Then (A)Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified. 25 So Israel took all these cities, and Israel (B)dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all its villages. 26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. 27 Therefore those who speak in [a]proverbs say:

“Come to Heshbon, let it be built;
Let the city of Sihon be repaired.

28 “For (C)fire went out from Heshbon,
A flame from the city of Sihon;
It consumed (D)Ar of Moab,
The lords of the (E)heights of the Arnon.
29 Woe to you, (F)Moab!
You have perished, O people of (G)Chemosh!
He has given his (H)sons as fugitives,
And his (I)daughters into captivity,
To Sihon king of the Amorites.

30 “But we have shot at them;
Heshbon has perished (J)as far as Dibon.
Then we laid waste as far as Nophah,
Which reaches to (K)Medeba.”

31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. 32 Then Moses sent to [b]spy out (L)Jazer; and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.

King Og Defeated(M)

33 (N)And they turned and went up by the way to (O)Bashan. So Og king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle (P)at Edrei. 34 Then the Lord said to Moses, (Q)“Do not fear him, for I have [c]delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and (R)you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.” 35 (S)So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left him; and they took possession of his land.

24 Israel, however, put him to the sword(A) and took over his land(B) from the Arnon to the Jabbok,(C) but only as far as the Ammonites,(D) because their border was fortified. 25 Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites(E) and occupied them,(F) including Heshbon(G) and all its surrounding settlements. 26 Heshbon was the city of Sihon(H) king of the Amorites,(I) who had fought against the former king of Moab(J) and had taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.(K)

27 That is why the poets say:

“Come to Heshbon and let it be rebuilt;
    let Sihon’s city be restored.

28 “Fire went out from Heshbon,
    a blaze from the city of Sihon.(L)
It consumed(M) Ar(N) of Moab,
    the citizens of Arnon’s heights.(O)
29 Woe to you, Moab!(P)
    You are destroyed, people of Chemosh!(Q)
He has given up his sons as fugitives(R)
    and his daughters as captives(S)
    to Sihon king of the Amorites.

30 “But we have overthrown them;
    Heshbon’s dominion has been destroyed all the way to Dibon.(T)
We have demolished them as far as Nophah,
    which extends to Medeba.(U)

31 So Israel settled in the land of the Amorites.(V)

32 After Moses had sent spies(W) to Jazer,(X) the Israelites captured its surrounding settlements and drove out the Amorites who were there. 33 Then they turned and went up along the road toward Bashan(Y),(Z) and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet them in battle at Edrei.(AA)

34 The Lord said to Moses, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.(AB)

35 So they struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army, leaving them no survivors.(AC) And they took possession of his land.(AD)
