²⁰ But the prophet who speaks a word ^(A)presumptuously in My name, a word which I have not commanded him to speak, or ^(B)which he speaks in the name of other gods, ^[a]that prophet shall die.’

² “Son of man, prophesy against the ^(A)prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy from their own ^[a]inspiration, ‘^(B)Listen to the word of the Lord! ³ This is what the Lord ^[b]God says: “Woe to the ^(C)foolish prophets who are following their own spirit and have ^(D)seen nothing!

¹⁰ It is definitely because they have ^(A)misled My people by saying, ‘^(B)Peace!’ when there is ^(C)no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;

²² Because you ^(A)disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him pain, but you have ^[a](B)encouraged the wicked not to ^(C)turn from his wicked way to keep him alive,

⁵ This is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who ^(A)lead my people astray:

³² Behold, I am against those who have prophesied ^(A)false dreams,” declares the Lord, “and reported them and led My people astray by their lies and ^(B)reckless boasting; yet ^(C)I did not send them nor command them, nor do they ^(D)provide this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.

³⁴ Then as for the prophet or the priest or the people who say, ‘The ^(A)pronouncement of the Lord,’ I will bring punishment upon that person and his household.

²⁶ How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the ^(A)deceitfulness of their own heart,
