The Son of Man Presented

The Vision Interpreted

¹⁵ “As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed ^[c]within me, and the ^(G)visions ^[d]in my mind kept ^(H)alarming me. ¹⁶ I approached one of those who were ^(I)standing by and began asking him the ^[e]exact meaning of all this. So he ^(J)told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things: ¹⁷ ‘These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth. ¹⁸ But the ^[f](K)saints of the Highest One will ^(L)receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, ^[g]for all ages to come.’

¹⁹ “Then I desired to know the ^[h]exact meaning of the ^(M)fourth beast, which was different from all ^[i]the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its claws of bronze, and which devoured, crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet, ²⁰ and the meaning of the ten horns that were on its head and the other horn which came up, and before which three of them fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth uttering great boasts and ^[j]which was larger in appearance than its associates. ²¹ I kept looking, and that horn was ^(N)waging war with the ^[k]saints and overpowering them ²² until the Ancient of Days came and ^(O)judgment was ^[l]passed in favor of the ^[m]saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the ^[n]saints took possession of the kingdom.

²³ “Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it. ²⁴ As for the ^(P)ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings. ²⁵ He will ^(Q)speak ^[o]out against the ^(R)Most High and ^(S)wear down the ^[p]saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make ^(T)alterations in times and in law; and ^[q]they will be given into his hand for a ^[r](U)time, ^[s]times, and half a ^[t]time. ²⁶ But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be ^(V)taken away, ^[u]annihilated and destroyed ^[v]forever. ²⁷ Then the ^[w](W)sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the ^[x]saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an ^(X)everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will ^(Y)serve and obey Him.’

²⁸ “^[y]At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were ^(Z)greatly alarming me and my ^[z]face grew pale, but I ^(AA)kept the matter ^[aa]to myself.”

^27 (A)All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father ^(B)except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

⁶⁴ Jesus *said to him, “^(A)You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, ^[a]hereafter you will see ^(B)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and ^(C)coming on the clouds of heaven.”

⁹ For to this end ^(A)Christ died and lived again, that He might be ^(B)Lord both of the dead and of the living.

²⁰ which He brought about in Christ, when He ^(A)raised Him from the dead and ^(B)seated Him at His right hand in ^(C)the heavenly places, ²¹ far above ^(D)all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every ^(E)name that is named, not only in ^(F)this age but also in the one to come. ²² And He ^(G)put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as ^(H)head over all things to the church,

^9 (A)For this reason also, God ^(B)highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him ^(C)the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ so that at the name of Jesus ^(D)every knee will bow, of ^(E)those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is ^(F)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹² So then, my beloved, ^(G)just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your ^(H)salvation with ^(I)fear and trembling; ¹³ for it is ^(J)God who is at work in you, both to will and to work ^(K)for His good pleasure.

¹⁴ Do all things without ^(L)grumbling or disputing; ¹⁵ so that you will ^[a]prove yourselves to be ^(M)blameless and innocent, ^(N)children of God above reproach in the midst of a ^(O)crooked and perverse generation, among whom you ^[b](P)appear as ^[c]lights in the world, ¹⁶ holding ^[d]fast the word of life, so that in ^(Q)the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not ^(R)run in vain nor ^(S)toil in vain. ¹⁷ But even if I am being ^(T)poured out as a drink offering upon ^(U)the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. ¹⁸ You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus

¹⁹ But I hope ^[e]in the Lord Jesus to ^(V)send ^(W)Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition. ²⁰ For I have no one else ^(X)of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare. ²¹ For they all ^(Y)seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus. ²² But you know ^(Z)of his proven worth, that ^(AA)he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel ^(AB)like a child serving his father. ^23 (AC)Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I see how things go with me; ²⁴ and ^(AD)I trust in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly. ²⁵ But I thought it necessary to send to you ^(AE)Epaphroditus, my brother and ^(AF)fellow worker and ^(AG)fellow soldier, who is also your ^[f](AH)messenger and ^(AI)minister to my need; ²⁶ because he was longing ^[g]for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. ²⁷ For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow. ²⁸ Therefore I have sent him all the more eagerly so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less concerned about you. ^29 (AJ)Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and ^(AK)hold men like him in high regard; ³⁰ because he came close to death ^[h](AL)for the work of Christ, risking his life to ^(AM)complete ^[i]what was deficient in your service to me.

¹⁰ and in Him you have been ^(A)made ^[a]complete, and ^(B)He is the head ^[b]over all ^(C)rule and authority;

^22 (A)who is at the right hand of God, ^(B)having gone into heaven, ^(C)after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.
