¹³ Then they answered and said before the king, ^(A)“Daniel, who is one ^(B)of the exiles ^(C)from Judah, ^(D)pays no attention to you, O king, or ^(E)the injunction you have signed, but makes his petition ^(F)three times a day.”

¹² There are certain Jews whom you have ^(A)appointed over the affairs of ^(B)the province of Babylon: ^(C)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, ^(D)pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

²⁵ Then ^(A)Arioch brought in Daniel before the king ^(B)in haste and said thus to him: “I have found ^(C)among the exiles from Judah a man who will make known to the king the interpretation.”

Daniel Interprets the Handwriting

¹³ Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king answered and said to Daniel, “You are that Daniel, one of ^(A)the exiles of Judah, whom the king my father brought from Judah.

⁸ Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom. ^(A)Their laws are different from those of every other people, and they do not keep the king's laws, so that it is not to the king's profit to tolerate them.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, ^(A)“We must obey God rather than men.

⁶ Among these were ^(A)Daniel, ^(B)Hananiah, ^(C)Mishael, and ^(D)Azariah of the tribe of Judah.

⁷ and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against ^(A)the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is ^(B)another king, Jesus.”
