The Ancient of Days Reigns

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

18 (A)to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave,[a] both small and great.” 19 And I saw (B)the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies (C)gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it (D)the false prophet (E)who in its presence[b] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who (F)worshiped its image. These two were (G)thrown alive into the lake of (H)fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were slain by the sword (I)that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and (J)all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

The Thousand Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, (K)holding in his hand the key to (L)the bottomless pit[c] and a great chain. And he seized (M)the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and (N)bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into (O)the pit, and shut it and (P)sealed it over him, so that (Q)he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

Then I saw (R)thrones, and (S)seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw (T)the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those (U)who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. (V)They came to life and (W)reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

And he said to (A)the man clothed in linen, “Go in among (B)the whirling wheels underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with (C)burning coals from between the cherubim, and (D)scatter them over the city.”

And he went in (E)before my eyes. Now the cherubim were standing (F)on the south side of the house, when the man went in, and (G)a cloud filled (H)the inner court. And (I)the glory of the Lord (J)went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house (K)was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with (L)the brightness of the glory of the Lord. And (M)the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, (N)like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

And when he commanded (O)the man clothed in linen, (P)“Take fire from between (Q)the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim,” he went in and stood beside a wheel. And a cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was (A)like burning coals of fire, (B)like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. (C)And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures (D)darted to and fro, (E)like the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15 (F)Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them.[a] 16 (G)As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like (H)the gleaming of beryl. (I)And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. 17 (J)When they went, they went (K)in any of their four directions[b] (L)without turning as they went. 18 And their rims were tall and awesome, (M)and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around. 19 (N)And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; (O)and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose. 20 (P)Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, (Q)for the spirit of the living creatures[c] was in the wheels. 21 (R)When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; (S)and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, (T)for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and (C)a thousand years as one day. (D)The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise (E)as some count slowness, but (F)is patient toward you,[a] (G)not wishing that any should perish, but (H)that all should reach repentance. 10 But (I)the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then (J)the heavens will pass away with a roar, and (K)the heavenly bodies[b] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.[c]
