6 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom ^(A)120 ^(B)satraps, to be throughout the whole kingdom;

^31 [a] And ^(A)Darius ^(B)the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

The King's Banquets

1 Now in the days of Ahasuerus, the Ahasuerus who reigned ^(A)from India to Ethiopia over ^(B)127 provinces,

¹⁴ or to governors as sent by him ^(A)to punish those who do evil and ^(B)to praise those who do good.

²¹ Moreover, look for ^(A)able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. ²² And ^(B)let them judge the people at all times. ^(C)Every great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you, and they will ^(D)bear the burden with you.
