⁵ Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.^(A)

¹⁶ Then one who looked like a man^[a] touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.^(A) I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish^(B) because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak.

¹⁰ A hand touched me^(A) and set me trembling on my hands and knees.^(B)

⁴ On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank^(A) of the great river, the Tigris,^{(B) 5} I looked up^(C) and there before me was a man dressed in linen,^(D) with a belt of fine gold^(E) from Uphaz around his waist. ⁶ His body was like topaz,^(F) his face like lightning,^(G) his eyes like flaming torches,^(H) his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze,^(I) and his voice^(J) like the sound of a multitude.
