¹² Then he said to me, ^(A)“Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you ^(B)set your heart to understand and ^(C)humbled yourself before your God, ^(D)your words have been heard, ^(E)and I have come because of your words.

³⁰ And Cornelius said, ^(A)“Four days ago, about this hour, I was praying in my house at ^(B)the ninth hour,^[a] and behold, ^(C)a man stood before me in bright clothing ³¹ and said, ‘Cornelius, ^(D)your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.

¹⁹ And he said, ^(A)“O man greatly loved, ^(B)fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”

Gabriel Brings an Answer

^20 (A)While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for ^(B)the holy hill of my God, ²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man ^(C)Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, ^(D)came to me in swift flight at ^(E)the time of the evening sacrifice. ^22 (F)He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, “O Daniel, I have now come out to give you ^(G)insight and understanding. ^23 (H)At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, ^(I)and I have come to tell it to you, for ^(J)you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word ^(K)and understand the vision.
