Death in Adam, Life in Christ(A)

12 Therefore, just as (B)through one man sin entered the world, and (C)death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but (D)sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, (E)who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the [a]offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded (F)to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many [b]offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s [c]offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore, as through [d]one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through (G)one[e] Man’s righteous act the free gift came (H)to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by (I)one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

20 Moreover (J)the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace (K)abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

What shall we say then? (L)Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who (M)died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that (N)as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus (O)were baptized into His death? Therefore we were (P)buried with Him through baptism into death, that (Q)just as Christ was raised from the dead by (R)the glory of the Father, (S)even so we also should walk in newness of life.

(T)For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that (U)our old man was crucified with Him, that (V)the body of sin might be [f]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For (W)he who has died has been [g]freed from sin. Now (X)if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that (Y)Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, (Z)He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, (AA)He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, [h]reckon yourselves to be (AB)dead indeed to sin, but (AC)alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

12 (AD)Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your (AE)members as [i]instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but (AF)present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For (AG)sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
