Colossians 1

Greeting

1 Paul, ^(A)an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

²To the saints ^(B)and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:

^(C)Grace to you and peace from God our Father ^[a]and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Their Faith in Christ

³^(D)We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, ⁴^(E)since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of ^(F)your love for all the saints; ⁵because of the hope ^(G)which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, ⁶which has come to you, ^(H)as it has also in all the world, and ^(I)is bringing forth ^[b]fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew ^(J)the grace of God in truth; ⁷as you also learned from ^(K)Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is ^(L)a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, ⁸who also declared to us your ^(M)love in the Spirit.

Preeminence of Christ

⁹^(N)For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask ^(O)that you may be filled with ^(P)the knowledge of His will ^(Q)in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; ¹⁰^(R)that you may walk worthy of the Lord, ^(S)fully pleasing Him, ^(T)being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the ^(U)knowledge of God; ¹¹^(V)strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, ^(W)for all patience and longsuffering ^(X)with joy; ¹²^(Y)giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of ^(Z)the inheritance of the saints in the light. ¹³He has delivered us from ^(AA)the power of darkness ^(AB)and ^[c]conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, ¹⁴^(AC)in whom we have redemption ^[d]through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

¹⁵He is ^(AD)the image of the invisible God, ^(AE)the firstborn over all creation. ¹⁶For ^(AF)by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or ^(AG)dominions or ^[e]principalities or ^[f]powers. All things were created ^(AH)through Him and for Him. ¹⁷^(AI)And He is before all things, and in Him ^(AJ)all things consist. ¹⁸And ^(AK)He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, ^(AL)the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Reconciled in Christ

¹⁹For it pleased the Father that ^(AM)in Him all the fullness should dwell, ²⁰and ^(AN)by Him to reconcile ^(AO)all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, ^(AP)having made peace through the blood of His cross.

²¹And you, ^(AQ)who once were alienated and enemies in your mind ^(AR)by wicked works, yet now He has ^(AS)reconciled ²²^(AT)in the body of His flesh through death, ^(AU)to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— ²³if indeed you continue ^(AV)in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are ^(AW)not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, ^(AX)which was preached to every creature under heaven, ^(AY)of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Sacrificial Service for Christ

²⁴^(AZ)I now rejoice in my sufferings ^(BA)for you, and fill up in my flesh ^(BB)what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for ^(BC)the sake of His body, which is the church, ²⁵of which I became a minister according to ^(BD)the ^[g]stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, ²⁶^(BE)the ^[h]mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, ^(BF)but now has been revealed to His saints. ²⁷^(BG)To them God willed to make known what are ^(BH)the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: ^[i]which is ^(BI)Christ in you, ^(BJ)the hope of glory. ²⁸Him we preach, ^(BK)warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, ^(BL)that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. ²⁹To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me ^(BM)mightily.

²τοις εν κολοσσαις αγιοις και πιστοις αδελφοις εν χριστω χαρις υμιν και ειρηνη απο θεου πατρος ημων και κυριου ιησου χριστου

³ευχαριστουμεν τω θεω και πατρι του κυριου ημων ιησου χριστου παντοτε περι υμων προσευχομενοι

⁴ακουσαντες την πιστιν υμων εν χριστω ιησου και την αγαπην την εις παντας τους αγιους

⁵δια την ελπιδα την αποκειμενην υμιν εν τοις ουρανοις ην προηκουσατε εν τω λογω της αληθειας του ευαγγελιου

⁶του παροντος εις υμας καθως και εν παντι τω κοσμω και εστιν καρποφορουμενον καθως και εν υμιν αφ ης ημερας ηκουσατε και επεγνωτε την χαριν του θεου εν αληθεια

⁹δια τουτο και ημεις αφ ης ημερας ηκουσαμεν ου παυομεθα υπερ υμων προσευχομενοι και αιτουμενοι ινα πληρωθητε την επιγνωσιν του θεληματος αυτου εν παση σοφια και συνεσει πνευματικη

¹⁰περιπατησαι υμας αξιως του κυριου εις πασαν αρεσκειαν εν παντι εργω αγαθω καρποφορουντες και αυξανομενοι εις την επιγνωσιν του θεου

¹¹εν παση δυναμει δυναμουμενοι κατα το κρατος της δοξης αυτου εις πασαν υπομονην και μακροθυμιαν μετα χαρας

¹²ευχαριστουντες τω πατρι τω ικανωσαντι ημας εις την μεριδα του κληρου των αγιων εν τω φωτι

¹³ος ερρυσατο ημας εκ της εξουσιας του σκοτους και μετεστησεν εις την βασιλειαν του υιου της αγαπης αυτου

¹⁵ος εστιν εικων του θεου του αορατου πρωτοτοκος πασης κτισεως

¹⁶οτι εν αυτω εκτισθη τα παντα τα εν τοις ουρανοις και τα επι της γης τα ορατα και τα αορατα ειτε θρονοι ειτε κυριοτητες ειτε αρχαι ειτε εξουσιαι τα παντα δι αυτου και εις αυτον εκτισται

¹⁷και αυτος εστιν προ παντων και τα παντα εν αυτω συνεστηκεν

¹⁸και αυτος εστιν η κεφαλη του σωματος της εκκλησιας ος εστιν αρχη πρωτοτοκος εκ των νεκρων ινα γενηται εν πασιν αυτος πρωτευων

¹⁹οτι εν αυτω ευδοκησεν παν το πληρωμα κατοικησαι

²⁰και δι αυτου αποκαταλλαξαι τα παντα εις αυτον ειρηνοποιησας δια του αιματος του σταυρου αυτου δι αυτου ειτε τα επι της γης ειτε τα εν τοις ουρανοις

²¹και υμας ποτε οντας απηλλοτριωμενους και εχθρους τη διανοια εν τοις εργοις τοις πονηροις νυνι δε αποκατηλλαξεν

²²εν τω σωματι της σαρκος αυτου δια του θανατου παραστησαι υμας αγιους και αμωμους και ανεγκλητους κατενωπιον αυτου

²³ειγε επιμενετε τη πιστει τεθεμελιωμενοι και εδραιοι και μη μετακινουμενοι απο της ελπιδος του ευαγγελιου ου ηκουσατε του κηρυχθεντος εν παση τη κτισει τη υπο τον ουρανον ου εγενομην εγω παυλος διακονος

²⁴ος νυν χαιρω εν τοις παθημασιν μου υπερ υμων και ανταναπληρω τα υστερηματα των θλιψεων του χριστου εν τη σαρκι μου υπερ του σωματος αυτου ο εστιν η εκκλησια

²⁵ης εγενομην εγω διακονος κατα την οικονομιαν του θεου την δοθεισαν μοι εις υμας πληρωσαι τον λογον του θεου

²⁶το μυστηριον το αποκεκρυμμενον απο των αιωνων και απο των γενεων νυνι δε εφανερωθη τοις αγιοις αυτου

²⁷οις ηθελησεν ο θεος γνωρισαι τις ο πλουτος της δοξης του μυστηριου τουτου εν τοις εθνεσιν ος εστιν χριστος εν υμιν η ελπις της δοξης

²⁸ον ημεις καταγγελλομεν νουθετουντες παντα ανθρωπον και διδασκοντες παντα ανθρωπον εν παση σοφια ινα παραστησωμεν παντα ανθρωπον τελειον εν χριστω ιησου

²⁹εις ο και κοπιω αγωνιζομενος κατα την ενεργειαν αυτου την ενεργουμενην εν εμοι εν δυναμει

Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Timotheus the brother,

²to the saints in Colossae, and to the faithful brethren in Christ: Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

³We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, always praying for you,

⁴having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love that [is] to all the saints,

⁵because of the hope that is laid up for you in the heavens, which ye heard of before in the word of the truth of the good news,

⁶which is present to you, as also in all the world, and is bearing fruit, as also in you, from the day in which ye heard, and knew the grace of God in truth;

⁷as ye also learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow-servant, who is for you a faithful ministrant of the Christ,

⁸who also did declare to us your love in the Spirit.

⁹Because of this, we also, from the day in which we heard, do not cease praying for you, and asking that ye may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,

¹⁰to your walking worthily of the Lord to all pleasing, in every good work being fruitful, and increasing to the knowledge of God,

¹¹in all might being made mighty according to the power of His glory, to all endurance and long-suffering with joy.

¹²Giving thanks to the Father who did make us meet for the participation of the inheritance of the saints in the light,

¹³who did rescue us out of the authority of the darkness, and did translate [us] into the reign of the Son of His love,

¹⁴in whom we have the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of the sins,

¹⁵who is the image of the invisible God, first-born of all creation,

¹⁶because in him were the all things created, those in the heavens, and those upon the earth, those visible, and those invisible, whether thrones, whether lordships, whether principalities, whether authorities; all things through him, and for him, have been created,

¹⁷and himself is before all, and the all things in him have consisted.

¹⁸And himself is the head of the body -- the assembly -- who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he might become in all [things] -- himself -- first,

¹⁹because in him it did please all the fulness to tabernacle,

²⁰and through him to reconcile the all things to himself -- having made peace through the blood of his cross -- through him, whether the things upon the earth, whether the things in the heavens.

²¹And you -- once being alienated, and enemies in the mind, in the evil works, yet now did he reconcile,

²²in the body of his flesh through the death, to present you holy, and unblemished, and unblameable before himself,

²³if also ye remain in the faith, being founded and settled, and not moved away from the hope of the good news, which ye heard, which was preached in all the creation that [is] under the heaven, of which I became -- I Paul -- a ministrant.

²⁴I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and do fill up the things lacking of the tribulations of the Christ in my flesh for his body, which is the assembly,

²⁵of which I -- I did become a ministrant according to the dispensation of God, that was given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God,

²⁶the secret that hath been hid from the ages and from the generations, but now was manifested to his saints,

²⁷to whom God did will to make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this secret among the nations -- which is Christ in you, the hope of the glory,

²⁸whom we proclaim, warning every man, and teaching every man, in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus,

²⁹for which also I labour, striving according to his working that is working in me in power.
