¹² having been buried with him in baptism,^(A) in which you were also raised with him^(B) through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.^(C)

³ Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized^(A) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ⁴ We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death^(B) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead^(C) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.^(D)

⁵ For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.^(E)

²¹ and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you^(A) also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience^(B) toward God.^[a] It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,^(C)

²⁷ for all of you who were baptized into Christ^(A) have clothed yourselves with Christ.^(B)

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ

3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ,^(A) set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.^{(B) 2} Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.^(C)

⁴ But because of his great love for us,^(A) God, who is rich in mercy, ⁵ made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions^(B)—it is by grace you have been saved.^{(C) 6} And God raised us up with Christ^(D) and seated us with him^(E) in the heavenly realms^(F) in Christ Jesus,

²⁴ But God raised him from the dead,^(A) freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.^(B)

¹⁹ and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power^(A) is the same as the mighty strength^{(B) 20} he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead^(C) and seated him at his right hand^(D) in the heavenly realms,^(E)

⁸ Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.^{(A) 9} For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead,^(B) he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.^{(C) 10} The death he died, he died to sin^(D) once for all;^(E) but the life he lives, he lives to God.

¹¹ In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin^(F) but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
