Guarigione di uno zoppo
3 (A)Pietro e Giovanni salivano [insieme] al tempio per la preghiera dell’ora nona[a], 2 mentre si portava un uomo, zoppo fin dalla nascita[b], che ogni giorno deponevano presso la porta del tempio detta «Bella» per chiedere l’elemosina a quelli che entravano nel tempio. 3 Vedendo Pietro e Giovanni che stavano per entrare nel tempio, egli chiese loro l’elemosina. 4 Pietro, con Giovanni, fissando gli occhi su di lui, disse: «Guardaci!» 5 Ed egli li guardava attentamente, aspettando di ricevere qualcosa da loro. 6 Ma Pietro disse: «Dell’argento e dell’oro io non ne ho; ma quello che ho, te lo do: nel nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, {alzati e} cammina!» 7 Lo prese per la mano destra, lo sollevò; e in quell’istante i piedi e le caviglie gli si rafforzarono. 8 E con un balzo si alzò in piedi e cominciò a camminare; ed entrò con loro nel tempio camminando, saltando e lodando Dio.
9 Tutto il popolo lo vide che camminava e lodava Dio; 10 e lo riconoscevano per colui che sedeva a chiedere l’elemosina alla porta Bella del tempio; e furono pieni di meraviglia e di stupore per quello che gli era accaduto. 11 Mentre costui teneva[c] stretti a sé Pietro e Giovanni, tutto il popolo, stupito, accorse a loro al portico detto «di Salomone».
Discorso di Pietro nel tempio
12 (B)Pietro, visto ciò, parlò al popolo, dicendo: «Uomini d’Israele, perché vi meravigliate di questo? Perché fissate gli occhi su di noi, come se per la nostra propria potenza o pietà avessimo fatto camminare quest’uomo? 13 Il Dio di Abraamo, di Isacco e di Giacobbe[d], il Dio dei nostri padri, ha glorificato il suo servo Gesù, che voi consegnaste a Pilato e rinnegaste davanti a lui, mentre egli aveva giudicato di liberarlo. 14 Ma voi rinnegaste il Santo, il Giusto, e chiedeste che vi fosse concesso un omicida; 15 e uccideste il Principe della vita, che Dio ha risuscitato dai morti. Di questo noi siamo testimoni. 16 E, per la fede nel suo nome, il suo nome ha fortificato quest’uomo che vedete e conoscete; ed è la fede, che si ha per mezzo di lui, che gli ha dato questa perfetta guarigione in presenza di voi tutti.
17 Ora, fratelli, io so che lo faceste per ignoranza, come pure i vostri capi. 18 Ma ciò che Dio aveva preannunciato per bocca di tutti i [suoi] profeti, cioè che il suo Cristo avrebbe sofferto, egli lo ha adempiuto in questa maniera.
19 Ravvedetevi dunque e convertitevi, perché i vostri peccati siano cancellati 20 e affinché vengano dalla presenza del Signore dei tempi di ristoro, e che egli mandi il Cristo che vi è stato predestinato, cioè Gesù[e], 21 che il cielo deve tenere accolto fino ai tempi della restaurazione di tutte le cose, di cui Dio ha parlato fin dall’antichità per bocca dei suoi santi profeti[f]. 22 Mosè, infatti, disse [ai padri]: “Il Signore Dio vi susciterà in mezzo ai vostri fratelli un profeta come me; ascoltatelo in tutte le cose che vi dirà. 23 E avverrà che chiunque non avrà ascoltato quel profeta sarà estirpato di mezzo al popolo”[g]. 24 Tutti i profeti che hanno parlato da Samuele in poi hanno anch’essi annunciato[h] questi giorni. 25 Voi siete i figli dei profeti e del patto che Dio fece con i vostri[i] padri, dicendo ad Abraamo: “Nella tua discendenza tutte le nazioni della terra saranno benedette”[j]. 26 A voi per primi Dio, avendo suscitato il suo Servo [Gesù], lo ha mandato per benedirvi, convertendo ciascuno di voi dalle sue malvagità».

La guarigione dello storpio
3 Un giorno Pietro e Giovanni salivano al tempio per la preghiera verso le tre del pomeriggio. 2 Qui di solito veniva portato un uomo, storpio fin dalla nascita e lo ponevano ogni giorno presso la porta del tempio detta «Bella» a chiedere l'elemosina a coloro che entravano nel tempio. 3 Questi, vedendo Pietro e Giovanni che stavano per entrare nel tempio, domandò loro l'elemosina. 4 Allora Pietro fissò lo sguardo su di lui insieme a Giovanni e disse: «Guarda verso di noi». 5 Ed egli si volse verso di loro, aspettandosi di ricevere qualche cosa. 6 Ma Pietro gli disse: «Non possiedo né argento né oro, ma quello che ho te lo do: nel nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, cammina!». 7 E, presolo per la mano destra, lo sollevò. Di colpo i suoi piedi e le caviglie si rinvigorirono 8 e balzato in piedi camminava; ed entrò con loro nel tempio camminando, saltando e lodando Dio. 9 Tutto il popolo lo vide camminare e lodare Dio 10 e riconoscevano che era quello che sedeva a chiedere l'elemosina alla porta Bella del tempio ed erano meravigliati e stupiti per quello che gli era accaduto.
Discorso di Pietro al popolo
11 Mentr'egli si teneva accanto a Pietro e Giovanni, tutto il popolo fuor di sé per lo stupore accorse verso di loro al portico detto di Salomone. 12 Vedendo ciò, Pietro disse al popolo: «Uomini d'Israele, perché vi meravigliate di questo e continuate a fissarci come se per nostro potere e nostra pietà avessimo fatto camminare quest'uomo? 13 Il Dio di Abramo, di Isacco e di Giacobbe, il Dio dei nostri padri ha glorificato il suo servo Gesù, che voi avete consegnato e rinnegato di fronte a Pilato, mentre egli aveva deciso di liberarlo; 14 voi invece avete rinnegato il Santo e il Giusto, avete chiesto che vi fosse graziato un assassino 15 e avete ucciso l'autore della vita. Ma Dio l'ha risuscitato dai morti e di questo noi siamo testimoni. 16 Proprio per la fede riposta in lui il nome di Gesù ha dato vigore a quest'uomo che voi vedete e conoscete; la fede in lui ha dato a quest'uomo la perfetta guarigione alla presenza di tutti voi.
17 Ora, fratelli, io so che voi avete agito per ignoranza, così come i vostri capi; 18 Dio però ha adempiuto così ciò che aveva annunziato per bocca di tutti i profeti, che cioè il suo Cristo sarebbe morto. 19 Pentitevi dunque e cambiate vita, perché siano cancellati i vostri peccati 20 e così possano giungere i tempi della consolazione da parte del Signore ed egli mandi quello che vi aveva destinato come Messia, cioè Gesù. 21 Egli dev'esser accolto in cielo fino ai tempi della restaurazione di tutte le cose, come ha detto Dio fin dall'antichità, per bocca dei suoi santi profeti. 22 Mosè infatti disse: Il Signore vostro Dio vi farà sorgere un profeta come me in mezzo ai vostri fratelli; voi lo ascolterete in tutto quello che egli vi dirà. 23 E chiunque non ascolterà quel profeta, sarà estirpato di mezzo al popolo. 24 Tutti i profeti, a cominciare da Samuele e da quanti parlarono in seguito, annunziarono questi giorni.
25 Voi siete i figli dei profeti e dell'alleanza che Dio stabilì con i vostri padri, quando disse ad Abramo: Nella tua discendenza saranno benedette tutte le famiglie della terra. 26 Dio, dopo aver risuscitato il suo servo, l'ha mandato prima di tutto a voi per portarvi la benedizione e perché ciascuno si converta dalle sue iniquità».

A Lame Man Healed
3 Now Peter and John went up together (A)to the temple at the hour of prayer, (B)the ninth hour. 2 And (C)a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, (D)to [a]ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: (E)In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, (F)leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 (G)And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who (H)sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch (I)which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 (J)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, (K)glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you (L)delivered up and (M)denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied (N)the Holy One (O)and the Just, and (P)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the [b]Prince of life, (Q)whom God raised from the dead, (R)of which we are witnesses. 16 (S)And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. 17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that (T)you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But (U)those things which God foretold (V)by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 (W)Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send [c]Jesus Christ, who was [d]preached to you before, 21 (X)whom heaven must receive until the times of (Y)restoration of all things, (Z)which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since [e]the world began. 22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, (AA)‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Peter Heals a Crippled Man
3 One day Peter and John went to the Temple area. It was three o’clock in the afternoon, which was the time for the daily Temple prayer service. 2 As they were entering the Temple area, a man was there who had been crippled all his life. He was being carried by some friends who brought him to the Temple every day. They put him by one of the gates outside the Temple. It was called Beautiful Gate. There he begged for money from the people going to the Temple. 3 That day he saw Peter and John going into the Temple area. He asked them for money.
4 Peter and John looked at the crippled man and said, “Look at us!” 5 He looked at them; he thought they would give him some money. 6 But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold, but I do have something else I can give you. By the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth—stand up and walk!”
7 Then Peter took the man’s right hand and lifted him up. Immediately his feet and legs became strong. 8 He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk. He went into the Temple area with them. He was walking and jumping and praising God. 9-10 All the people recognized him. They knew he was the crippled man who always sat by the Beautiful Gate to beg for money. Now they saw this same man walking and praising God. They were amazed. They did not understand how this could happen.
Peter Speaks to the People
11 The man was holding on to Peter and John. All the people were amazed. They ran to Peter and John at Solomon’s Porch.
12 When Peter saw this, he said to the people, “My Jewish brothers, why are you surprised at this? You are looking at us as if it was our power that made this man walk. Do you think this was done because we are good? 13 No, God did it! He is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. He is the God of all our fathers. He gave glory to Jesus, his special servant. But you handed him over to be killed. Pilate decided to let him go free. But you told Pilate you did not want him. 14 Jesus was holy and good, but you said you did not want him. You told Pilate to give you a murderer[a] instead of Jesus. 15 And so you killed the one who gives life! But God raised him from death. We are witnesses of this—we saw it with our own eyes.
16 “This crippled man was healed because we trusted in Jesus. It was Jesus’ power that made him well. You can see this man, and you know him. He was made completely well because of faith in Jesus. You all saw it happen!
17 “My brothers, I know that what you did to Jesus was done because you did not understand what you were doing. And your leaders did not understand any more than you did. 18 But God said these things would happen. Through the prophets he said that his Messiah would suffer and die. I have told you how God made this happen. 19 So you must change your hearts and lives. Come back to God, and he will forgive your sins. 20 Then the Lord will give you times of spiritual rest. He will send you Jesus, the one he chose to be the Messiah.
21 “But Jesus must stay in heaven until the time when all things will be made right again. God told about this time when he spoke long ago through his holy prophets. 22 Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will give you a prophet. That prophet will come from among your own people. He will be like me. You must obey everything he tells you. 23 And anyone who refuses to obey that prophet will die, separated from God’s people.’[b]
24 “Samuel, and all the other prophets who spoke for God after Samuel, said that this time would come. 25 And what those prophets talked about is for you, their descendants. You have received the agreement that God made with your fathers. God said to your father Abraham, ‘Every nation on earth will be blessed through your descendants.’[c] 26 God has sent his special servant Jesus. He sent him to you first. He sent him to bless you by causing each of you to turn away from your evil ways.”
