10 Entonces vi descender del cielo a otro ángel poderoso. Venía envuelto en una nube y con el arco iris sobre su cabeza. Su rostro era semejante al sol, y sus piernas parecían dos columnas de fuego. 2 En su mano tenía un librito abierto, y se quedó con el pie derecho sobre el mar y con el izquierdo sobre la tierra; 3 en ese momento lanzó un grito tan fuerte como el rugido de un león, y se oyó la estruendosa voz de siete truenos. 4 Después de que hablaron los siete truenos, me dispuse a escribir, pero desde el cielo oí una voz que me decía: «No reveles lo que han dicho los siete truenos. No lo escribas.» 5 Entonces el ángel que vi que estaba sobre el mar y sobre la tierra levantó su mano derecha al cielo 6 y jurando por el que vive por los siglos de los siglos, por el mismo que creó el cielo, la tierra y el mar, y todo lo que hay en ellos, dijo: «¡Se acabó el tiempo! 7 Cuando llegue el momento de que el séptimo ángel comience a tocar la trompeta, se cumplirá el misterio de Dios, que él ya había anunciado a sus siervos los profetas.»(A)
8 La voz que oí del cielo volvió a hablarme, y me dijo: «Ve y toma el librito abierto que tiene en la mano el ángel que está de pie sobre el mar y la tierra.» 9 Yo me dirigí al ángel y le pedí que me diera el librito. Y él me dijo: «Aquí lo tienes. Cómetelo. Te amargará el estómago, pero en tus labios será dulce como la miel.» 10 Yo tomé el librito de la mano del ángel, y me lo comí. En mis labios era dulce como la miel, pero una vez que lo comí, me amargó el estómago.(B) 11 Y se me dijo: «Debes profetizar otra vez acerca de muchos pueblos, naciones, lenguas y reyes.»

Het boekje
10 Toen zag ik een andere sterke engel uit de hemel komen. Er hing een wolk om hem heen en er was een regenboog om zijn hoofd. Zijn gezicht straalde als de zon en zijn voeten leken op pilaren van vuur. 2 In zijn hand hield hij een klein, open boekje. Hij zette zijn rechtervoet op de zee en zijn linkervoet op het land. 3 Toen riep hij luid met een stem die klonk als het brullen van een leeuw. En toen hij riep, spraken de zeven donderslagen.[a]
4 Toen de zeven donderslagen waren uitgesproken, wilde ik opschrijven wat ze hadden gezegd. Maar ik hoorde een stem uit de hemel zeggen: "Houd geheim wat de zeven donderslagen hebben gezegd. Schrijf het niet op."
5 De engel die ik op de zee en het land zag staan, stak zijn rechterhand op naar de hemel. 6 Hij zwoer bij Hem die eeuwig leeft, die de hemel en alles wat daarin is heeft gemaakt, die de aarde en alles wat daarop is heeft gemaakt en die de zee en alles wat daarin is heeft gemaakt: "De tijd is om! 7 Op de dag dat de zevende engel op zijn trompet blaast, wordt ook het laatste deel van Gods verborgen plan helemaal uitgevoerd. Dan zal alles gebeuren zoals Hij het aan zijn dienaren, de profeten, bekend heeft gemaakt."
8 Toen sprak de stem die ik uit de hemel had gehoord weer tegen mij. Hij zei: "Ga naar de engel die op de zee en het land staat. Pak het boekje van hem aan dat hij in zijn hand heeft." 9 Ik ging naar de engel en vroeg hem om het boekje. De engel zei: "Neem het en eet het op. Het zal je buik bitter maken. Maar in je mond zal het zo zoet smaken als honing." 10 Ik pakte het boekje van hem aan en at het op. In mijn mond was het zo zoet als honing. Maar toen ik het op had, werd mijn buik er bitter van.
11 Toen werd er tegen mij gezegd: "Je moet opnieuw profeteren, voor vele landen en volken en talen en koningen."

10 Vi descender del cielo a otro ángel fuerte, envuelto en una nube, con el arco iris sobre su cabeza; y su rostro era como el sol, y sus pies como columnas de fuego. 2 Tenía en su mano un librito abierto; y puso su pie derecho sobre el mar, y el izquierdo sobre la tierra; 3 y clamó a gran voz, como ruge un león; y cuando hubo clamado, siete truenos emitieron sus voces. 4 Cuando los siete truenos hubieron emitido sus voces, yo iba a escribir; pero oí una voz del cielo que me decía: Sella las cosas que los siete truenos han dicho, y no las escribas. 5 Y el ángel que vi en pie sobre el mar y sobre la tierra, levantó su mano al cielo, 6 y juró por el que vive por los siglos de los siglos, que creó el cielo y las cosas que están en él, y la tierra y las cosas que están en ella, y el mar y las cosas que están en él, que el tiempo no sería más, 7 sino que en los días de la voz del séptimo ángel, cuando él comience a tocar la trompeta, el misterio de Dios se consumará, como él lo anunció a sus siervos los profetas.(A)
8 La voz que oí del cielo habló otra vez conmigo, y dijo: Ve y toma el librito que está abierto en la mano del ángel que está en pie sobre el mar y sobre la tierra. 9 Y fui al ángel, diciéndole que me diese el librito. Y él me dijo: Toma, y cómelo; y te amargará el vientre, pero en tu boca será dulce como la miel. 10 Entonces tomé el librito de la mano del ángel, y lo comí; y era dulce en mi boca como la miel, pero cuando lo hube comido, amargó mi vientre.(B) 11 Y él me dijo: Es necesario que profetices otra vez sobre muchos pueblos, naciones, lenguas y reyes.

The Angel and the Little Scroll
10 Then I saw another mighty angel(A) coming down from heaven.(B) He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow(C) above his head; his face was like the sun,(D) and his legs were like fiery pillars.(E) 2 He was holding a little scroll,(F) which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,(G) 3 and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion.(H) When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders(I) spoke. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write;(J) but I heard a voice from heaven(K) say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”(L)
5 Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land(M) raised his right hand to heaven.(N) 6 And he swore(O) by him who lives for ever and ever,(P) who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it,(Q) and said, “There will be no more delay!(R) 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet,(S) the mystery(T) of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”(U)
8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven(V) spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll(W) that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a]”(X) 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth,(Y) but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy(Z) again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”(AA)
