O anjo e o livrinho
10 Então vi outro anjo forte, que estava descendo do céu. A sua roupa era uma nuvem, e ele tinha um arco-íris na cabeça. O seu rosto era como o sol, e as pernas eram como colunas de fogo. 2 O anjo tinha um livrinho aberto na mão. Ele pôs o pé direito sobre o mar e o esquerdo, sobre a terra 3 e gritou com voz muito forte, que parecia o rugido de leões. Depois que gritou, os sete trovões responderam com um estrondo. 4 No momento em que eles falaram, eu ia escrever, mas ouvi uma voz do céu que dizia:
— Guarde em segredo o que os sete trovões disseram. Não escreva nada.
5 Depois o anjo que vi em pé sobre o mar e sobre a terra levantou a mão direita para o céu 6 e fez um juramento em nome de Deus, que vive para todo o sempre, que criou o céu, a terra, o mar e tudo o que existe neles. O juramento foi este:
— Não vai demorar mais. 7 Quando o sétimo anjo tocar a trombeta, Deus cumprirá o seu plano secreto, como anunciou aos seus servos, os profetas.
8 Então a voz do céu que eu tinha ouvido falou outra vez comigo, dizendo:
— Vá até o anjo que está em pé sobre o mar e sobre a terra e pegue o livro aberto que ele tem na mão.
9 Eu fui e pedi ao anjo o livrinho, e ele me disse:
— Pegue o livrinho e coma-o. No seu estômago ele ficará azedo, mas na sua boca será doce como mel.
10 Aí peguei o livrinho da mão do anjo e o comi, e na minha boca ele era doce como mel. Mas, depois que o engoli, o meu estômago ficou azedo. 11 Então me disseram:
— Você precisa anunciar outra vez a mensagem de Deus a respeito de muitas nações, raças, línguas e reis.

10 E vi outro anjo forte, que descia do céu, vestido de uma nuvem; e por cima da sua cabeça estava o arco celeste, e o rosto era como o sol, e os pés, como colunas de fogo; 2 e tinha na mão um livrinho aberto e pôs o pé direito sobre o mar e o esquerdo sobre a terra; 3 e clamou com grande voz, como quando brama o leão; e, havendo clamado, os sete trovões fizeram soar as suas vozes. 4 E, sendo ouvidas dos sete trovões as suas vozes, eu ia escrevê-las, mas ouvi uma voz do céu, que dizia: Sela o que os sete trovões falaram e não o escrevas. 5 E o anjo que vi estar sobre o mar e sobre a terra levantou a mão ao céu 6 e jurou por aquele que vive para todo o sempre, o qual criou o céu e o que nele há, e a terra e o que nela há, e o mar e o que nele há, que não haveria mais demora; 7 mas nos dias da voz do sétimo anjo, quando tocar a sua trombeta, se cumprirá o segredo de Deus, como anunciou aos profetas, seus servos.
8 E a voz que eu do céu tinha ouvido tornou a falar comigo e disse: Vai e toma o livrinho aberto da mão do anjo que está em pé sobre o mar e sobre a terra. 9 E fui ao anjo, dizendo-lhe: Dá-me o livrinho. E ele disse-me: Toma-o e come-o, e ele fará amargo o teu ventre, mas na tua boca será doce como mel. 10 E tomei o livrinho da mão do anjo e comi-o; e na minha boca era doce como mel; e, havendo-o comido, o meu ventre ficou amargo. 11 E ele disse-me: Importa que profetizes outra vez a muitos povos, e nações, e línguas, e reis.

The Angel and the Little Scroll
10 Then I saw another mighty angel(A) coming down from heaven.(B) He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow(C) above his head; his face was like the sun,(D) and his legs were like fiery pillars.(E) 2 He was holding a little scroll,(F) which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,(G) 3 and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion.(H) When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders(I) spoke. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write;(J) but I heard a voice from heaven(K) say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”(L)
5 Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land(M) raised his right hand to heaven.(N) 6 And he swore(O) by him who lives for ever and ever,(P) who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it,(Q) and said, “There will be no more delay!(R) 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet,(S) the mystery(T) of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”(U)
8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven(V) spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll(W) that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a]”(X) 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth,(Y) but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy(Z) again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”(AA)

The angel with the little book
10 1-4 Then I saw another mighty angel descending from Heaven. He was clothed in a cloud, and there was a rainbow around his head. His face blazed like the sun, his legs like pillars of fire, and he had a little book lying open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land, and then shouted with a loud voice like the roar of a lion. And when he shouted the seven thunders lifted their voices. When the seven thunders had rolled I was on the point of writing but I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders said, but do not write it down!”
5-7 Then the angel whom I had seen bestriding the sea and the land raised his right hand to Heaven and swore by the living one of the timeless ages, who created Heaven, earth and sea and all that is in them: “There shall be no more delay! In the days which shall soon be announced by the trumpet-blast of the seventh angel the mysterious purpose of God shall be completed, as he assured his servants the prophets.”
8 Then the voice which I had heard from Heaven was again in my ears, saying, “Go, and take the little book which lies open in the hand of the angel whose feet are planted on both sea and land.”
9 So I went off towards the angel, asking him to give me the little book. “Take it,” he said to me, “and eat it up. It will be bitter to your stomach, but sweet as honey in your mouth.”
10 Then I took the little book from the angel’s hand and swallowed it. It was as sweet as honey to the taste but when I had eaten it up it was bitter to my stomach.
John is instructed to prophesy
11 Then they said to me, “It is again your duty to prophesy about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”
