20 Am văzut un înger care cobora din cer şi care avea cheia Adâncului şi un lanţ mare în mână. 2 El a înşfăcat balaurul, şarpele cel vechi, care este diavolul şi Satan, şi l-a legat pentru o mie de ani. 3 El l-a aruncat în Adânc, apoi a încuiat şi a pecetluit intrarea deasupra lui, ca să nu mai înşele neamurile până când se vor fi împlinit cei o mie de ani. După aceea, trebuie să fie eliberat pentru puţin timp.
4 Am văzut nişte tronuri, iar celor ce şedeau pe ele li s-a dat autoritatea să judece. Am văzut şi sufletele celor ce au fost decapitaţi din pricina mărturiei lui Isus şi din pricina Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu, care nu i s-au închinat fiarei, nici imaginii ei şi care n-au primit semnul ei pe frunte şi pe mână. Ei au înviat şi au domnit cu Cristos timp de o mie de ani. 5 (Ceilalţi morţi n-au înviat până când nu s-au împlinit cei o mie de ani.) Aceasta este prima înviere. 6 Fericiţi[a] şi sfinţi sunt cei care au parte de prima înviere! Asupra acestora a doua moarte nu are autoritate, ci vor fi preoţi ai lui Dumnezeu şi ai lui Cristos şi vor domni cu El timp de o mie de ani.
Condamnarea lui Satan
7 Când se vor fi împlinit cei o mie de ani, Satan va fi eliberat din închisoarea lui 8 şi va ieşi ca să înşele neamurile care sunt în cele patru colţuri ale pământului – pe Gog şi Magog[b] – şi să le adune pentru război. La număr, ele sunt ca nisipul mării. 9 Ele s-au ridicat la orizontul pământului şi au înconjurat tabăra sfinţilor şi cetatea iubită. Atunci a coborât foc din cer şi i-a mistuit. 10 Diavolul, care-i înşela, a fost aruncat în lacul de foc şi pucioasă, unde erau fiara şi profetul fals. Ei vor fi chinuiţi zi şi noapte, în vecii vecilor.
Judecarea celor morţi
11 Apoi am văzut un tron mare şi alb şi pe Cel Ce şedea pe el. Pământul şi cerul au dispărut din prezenţa Lui şi nu s-a mai găsit loc pentru ele. 12 I-am văzut pe morţii mari şi mici stând înaintea tronului. Au fost deschise nişte cărţi şi a fost deschisă şi o altă carte, care este Cartea Vieţii. Morţii au fost judecaţi potrivit cu faptele lor, aşa cum erau ele scrise în cărţi. 13 Marea i-a dat pe morţii care erau în ea, moartea şi Locuinţa Morţilor[c] i-au dat pe morţii care erau în ele şi fiecare a fost judecat după faptele lui. 14 Moartea şi Locuinţa Morţilor au fost aruncate în lacul de foc. Aceasta este a doua moarte: lacul de foc. 15 Oricine n-a fost găsit scris în Cartea Vieţii a fost aruncat în lacul de foc.

The Thousand Years
20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, (A)holding in his hand the key to (B)the bottomless pit[a] and a great chain. 2 And he seized (C)the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and (D)bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into (E)the pit, and shut it and (F)sealed it over him, so that (G)he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
4 Then I saw (H)thrones, and (I)seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw (J)the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those (K)who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. (L)They came to life and (M)reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 (N)Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such (O)the second death has no power, but they will be (P)priests of God and of Christ, and they (Q)will reign with him for a thousand years.
The Defeat of Satan
7 And when the thousand years are ended, (R)Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will come out (S)to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, (T)Gog and Magog, (U)to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9 And (V)they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded (W)the camp of the saints and (X)the beloved city, but (Y)fire came down from heaven[b] and consumed them, 10 and the devil (Z)who had deceived them was (AA)thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where (AB)the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Judgment Before the Great White Throne
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence (AC)earth and sky fled away, and (AD)no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and (AE)books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is (AF)the book of life. And (AG)the dead were judged by what was written in the books, (AH)according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, (AI)Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, (AJ)according to what they had done. 14 Then (AK)Death and Hades (AL)were thrown into the lake of fire. This is (AM)the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, (AN)he was thrown into the lake of fire.

The Thousand Years
20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,(A) having the key(B) to the Abyss(C) and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,(D) and bound him for a thousand years.(E) 3 He threw him into the Abyss,(F) and locked and sealed(G) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations(H) anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4 I saw thrones(I) on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.(J) And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded(K) because of their testimony about Jesus(L) and because of the word of God.(M) They[a] had not worshiped the beast(N) or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.(O) They came to life and reigned(P) with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.(Q) 6 Blessed(R) and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death(S) has no power over them, but they will be priests(T) of God and of Christ and will reign with him(U) for a thousand years.
The Judgment of Satan
7 When the thousand years are over,(V) Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations(W) in the four corners of the earth(X)—Gog and Magog(Y)—and to gather them for battle.(Z) In number they are like the sand on the seashore.(AA) 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded(AB) the camp of God’s people, the city he loves.(AC) But fire came down from heaven(AD) and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them,(AE) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,(AF) where the beast(AG) and the false prophet(AH) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.(AI)
The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne(AJ) and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence,(AK) and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small,(AL) standing before the throne, and books were opened.(AM) Another book was opened, which is the book of life.(AN) The dead were judged(AO) according to what they had done(AP) as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades(AQ) gave up the dead(AR) that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.(AS) 14 Then death(AT) and Hades(AU) were thrown into the lake of fire.(AV) The lake of fire is the second death.(AW) 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life(AX) was thrown into the lake of fire.
