Amos 8:4-6
Legacy Standard Bible
4 Hear this, you who [a](A)trample the needy, even to cause the humble of the land to cease, 5 saying,
“When will the (B)new moon pass over,
So that we may sell grain,
And the (C)sabbath, that we may open the wheat market,
To make the [b]bushel smaller and the [c]shekel bigger,
And to (D)cheat with a deceptive balance,
6 So as to (E)buy the poor for [d]money
And the needy for a pair of sandals,
And that we may sell the refuse of the wheat?”
Amos 8:4-6
English Standard Version
4 Hear this, (A)you who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5 saying, “When will (B)the new moon be over,
that we may sell grain?
And (C)the Sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make (D)the ephah small and the shekel[a] great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
6 that we may buy the poor for (E)silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals
and sell the chaff of the wheat?”
