Amos 2
Good News Translation
Moab
2 (A)The Lord says, “The people of Moab have sinned again and again, and for this I will certainly punish them. They dishonored the bones of the king of Edom by burning them to ashes. 2 I will send fire upon the land of Moab and burn down the fortresses of Kerioth. The people of Moab will die in the noise of battle while soldiers are shouting and trumpets are sounding. 3 I will kill the ruler of Moab and all the leaders of the land.”
Judah
4 The Lord says, “The people of Judah have sinned again and again, and for this I will certainly punish them. They have despised my teachings and have not kept my commands. They have been led astray by the same false gods that their ancestors served. 5 So I will send fire upon Judah and burn down the fortresses of Jerusalem.”
God's Judgment on Israel
6 The Lord says, “The people of Israel have sinned again and again, and for this I will certainly punish them. They sell into slavery honest people who cannot pay their debts, the poor who cannot repay even the price of a pair of sandals. 7 They trample[a] down the weak and helpless and push the poor out of the way. A man and his father have intercourse with the same slave woman, and so profane my holy name. 8 At every place of worship people sleep on clothing that they have taken from the poor as security for debts. In the temple of their God they drink wine which they have taken from those who owe them money.
9 (B)“And yet, my people, it was for your sake that I totally destroyed the Amorites, who were as tall as cedar trees and as strong as oaks. 10 I brought you out of Egypt, led you through the desert for forty years, and gave you the land of the Amorites to be your own. 11 (C)I chose some of your sons to be prophets and some of your young men to be nazirites.[b] Isn't this true, people of Israel? I, the Lord, have spoken. 12 But you made the nazirites drink wine, and ordered the prophets not to speak my message. 13 And now I will crush you to the ground, and you will groan like a cart loaded with grain. 14 Not even fast runners will escape; strong men will lose their strength, and soldiers will not be able to save their own lives. 15 Archers will not stand their ground, fast runners will not get away, and men on horses will not escape with their lives. 16 On that day even the bravest soldiers will drop their weapons and run.” The Lord has spoken.

Поради три престъпления на Моав –
да! – поради четири, няма да отменя наказанието му,

2 (B)Но Аз ще изпратя огън върху Моав
и той ще изгори палатите на Кариот;
и Моав ще умре сред метеж,
сред силни викове и тръбен звук;
3 (C)и ще изтребя съдията измежду него
и заедно с него ще убия всичките му първенци, казва Господ.
Божият съд над Израил и Юда
4 (D)Така казва Господ:
Поради три престъпления на Юда –
да! – поради четири, няма да отменя наказанието му,
защото отхвърли закона на Господа
и не опазиха наредбите Му,
и идолите, след които ходиха бащите им,
ги заблудиха.
5 (E)Но Аз ще изпратя огън върху Юда
и той ще изгори палатите на Йерусалим.
6 Така казва Господ:
Поради три престъпления на Израил –
да! – поради четири, няма да отменя наказанието му,
защото продадоха праведния за пари
и немощния – за един чифт обувки.
7 (F)Те желаят да видят земен прах на главата[a] на сиромасите
и извръщат пътя на кротките;
и син, и баща му ходят при същата вдовица
и омърсяват святото Ми име;
8 (G)още при всеки жертвеник си лягат на заложени дрехи
и в капищата на боговете си пият вино,
купено с парите на несправедливо глобяваните.
9 (H)Но Аз изтребих пред тях аморееца,
чиято височина беше като височината на кедрите
и който беше як като дъбовете;
при все това съсипах плода му отгоре
и корените му отдолу.
10 (I)Още Аз ви изведох от Египетската земя
и ви развеждах четиридесет години през пустинята,
за да наследите земята на аморейците.
11 (J)И издигнах от синовете ви пророци
и от юношите ви – назореи.
Не е ли така, израилтяни?, казва Господ.
12 (K)А вие напоявахте назореите с вино
и заповядвахте на пророците,
като им казвахте: Не пророкувайте!
13 Ето, Аз ще ви притисна на мястото ви,
както притиска кола, пълна със снопи.
14 (L)Бързината ще се изгуби от бързоходеца
и якият няма да укрепи силата си,
и юнакът няма да избави живота си;
15 стрелецът няма да може да устои,
нито бързоногият да избегне,
нито конникът да избави живота си;
16 (M)и доблестният между юнаците
ще побегне гол в онзи ден, казва Господ.

Contra Moab
2 Esto es lo que dice el Señor:
Son tantos los delitos de Moab
que no los dejaré sin castigo.
Por haber quemado y calcinado
los huesos del rey de Edom,
2 mandaré contra Moab un fuego
que devorará los palacios de Queriyot.
Y perecerá Moab entre estruendos,
gritos de guerra y toques de trompeta.
3 Extirparé de en medio al que gobierna
y aniquilaré a todos sus magistrados,
—dice el Señor—.
Contra Judá
4 Esto es lo que dice el Señor:
Son tantos los delitos de Judá
que no los dejaré sin castigo.
Por haber rechazado la ley del Señor
y no haber cumplido sus mandamientos,
por haberse dejado extraviar por ídolos
a quienes ya sus antepasados adoraron,
5 enviaré contra Judá un fuego
que devorará los palacios de Jerusalén.
Contra Israel
6 Esto es lo que dice el Señor:
Son tantos los delitos de Israel
que no los dejaré sin castigo.
Venden al inocente por dinero,
al pobre por un par de sandalias;
7 aplastan contra el polvo al desvalido
y no imparten justicia al indefenso;
padre e hijo acuden a la misma joven,
profanando así mi santo nombre.
8 Se tienden junto a cualquier altar
sobre ropas tomadas en prenda,
y beben en el templo de su dios
vino comprado con multas injustas.
9 Yo exterminé ante ellos al amorreo,
alto como los cedros y fuerte como las encinas;
extirpé sus raíces y malogré sus frutos.
10 A ustedes, en cambio, los saqué de Egipto
y los conduje cuarenta años por el desierto
hasta conquistar el país de los amorreos.
11 Suscité profetas entre sus hijos
y nazareos entre sus jóvenes.
¿No es así, israelitas? —oráculo del Señor—.
12 Pero ustedes obligaron a beber vino a los nazareos
y no dejaron profetizar a los profetas.
13 Pues bien, yo haré que el suelo se les hunda
como se hunde bajo un carro cargado de mies.
14 Ni el más ligero podrá huir,
ni al más fuerte le valdrán sus fuerzas,
ni el más valiente salvará su vida;
15 el arquero no conseguirá resistir,
el ágil de piernas no escapará;
el que monta a caballo no se salvará;
16 y hasta el valiente más intrépido
tendrá que huir desnudo aquel día,
—oráculo del Señor—.
