Amós 1
Dios Habla Hoy
1 Éste es el mensaje que Amós, pastor de ovejas del poblado de Tecoa, recibió de parte de Dios acerca de Israel, dos años antes del terremoto, en tiempos de Ozías, rey de Judá, y de Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel.
2 Cuando el Señor hace oír su voz de trueno
desde el monte Sión, en Jerusalén,
las tierras de pastos se marchitan
y se reseca la cumbre del Carmelo.
Juicios sobre las naciones vecinas
3 Así dice el Señor:
«Los de Damasco han cometido tantas maldades
que no dejaré de castigarlos;
pues trillaron a los de Galaad con trillos de hierro.
4 Por eso pondré fuego a la casa real de Hazael,
y ese fuego destruirá los palacios de Ben-hadad.
5 Abriré a la fuerza las puertas de Damasco;
destruiré al que reina en Bicat-avén
y al que gobierna en Bet-edén,
y los sirios serán llevados cautivos a Quir.»
Lo dice el Señor.
6 Así dice el Señor:
«Los de Gaza han cometido tantas maldades
que no dejaré de castigarlos;
pues se llevaron cautivo a todo un pueblo
y lo vendieron en Edom como esclavo.
7 Por eso pondré fuego a los muros de Gaza,
y ese fuego destruirá sus palacios.
8 Destruiré al que reina en Asdod
y al que gobierna en Ascalón.
¡Con todo mi poder me lanzaré contra Ecrón,
y hasta el último filisteo morirá!»
Lo dice el Señor.
9 Así dice el Señor:
«Los de Tiro han cometido tantas maldades
que no dejaré de castigarlos;
pues entregaron cautivo al poder de Edom
a todo un pueblo con el que tenían una alianza de hermanos.
10 Por eso pondré fuego a los muros de Tiro,
y ese fuego destruirá sus palacios.»
11 Así dice el Señor:
«Los de Edom han cometido tantas maldades
que no dejaré de castigarlos;
pues, espada en mano y sin compasión,
persiguieron a sus hermanos israelitas.
Dieron rienda suelta a su enojo,
y su odio fue implacable.
12 Por eso pondré fuego a Temán,
y ese fuego destruirá los palacios de Bosrá.»
13 Así dice el Señor:
«Los de Amón han cometido tantas maldades
que no dejaré de castigarlos;
pues, en su afán de agrandar su territorio,
abrieron en canal a las mujeres embarazadas de la región de Galaad.
14 Por eso pondré fuego a los muros de Rabá,
y ese fuego destruirá sus palacios
entre clamores de batalla
y estruendo de día tempestuoso.
15 Y su rey marchará al destierro,
junto con todos sus hombres importantes.»

Young's Literal Translation
1 Words of Amos -- who hath been among herdsmen of Tekoa -- that he hath seen concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the shaking;
2 and he saith: Jehovah from Zion doth roar, And from Jerusalem giveth forth His voice, And mourned have pastures of the shepherds, And withered hath the top of Carmel!
3 And thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their threshing Gilead with sharp-pointed irons,
4 And I have sent a fire against the house of Hazael, And it hath consumed the palaces of Ben-Hadad.
5 And I have broken the bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from Bikat-Aven, And a holder of a sceptre from Beth-Eden, And removed have been the people of Aram to Kir, said Jehovah.
6 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their removing a complete captivity, To deliver up to Edom,
7 And I have sent a fire against the wall of Gaza, And it hath consumed her palaces;
8 And I have cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, And a holder of a sceptre from Ashkelon, And have turned back My hand against Ekron, And perished have the remnant of the Philistines, Said the Lord Jehovah.
9 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their delivering up a complete captivity to Edom, And they remembered not the brotherly covenant,
10 And I have sent a fire against the wall of Tyre, And it hath consumed her palaces.
11 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of his pursuing with a sword his brother, And he hath destroyed his mercies, And tear perpetually doth his anger, And his wrath -- he hath kept it for ever,
12 And I have sent a fire against Teman, And it hath consumed palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their ripping up the pregnant ones of Gilead, To enlarge their border,
14 And I have kindled a fire against the wall of Rabbah, And it hath consumed her palaces, With a shout in a day of battle, With a whirlwind in a day of hurricane,
15 And gone hath their king in a removal, He and his heads together, said Jehovah!
