⁶ But ^(A)rise and enter the city, and you will be told ^(B)what you are to do.”

¹⁰ And I said, ^(A)‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’

¹⁴ and ^(A)the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the ^(B)faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ The saying is ^(C)trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus ^(D)came into the world to save sinners, ^(E)of whom I am the foremost. ¹⁶ But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

¹⁶ But rise and ^(A)stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, ^(B)to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you,

Lights in the World

¹² Therefore, my beloved, ^(A)as you have always ^(B)obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,

¹⁵ But when he ^(A)who had set me apart ^(B)before I was born,^[a] and who ^(C)called me by his grace, ¹⁶ was pleased to reveal his Son to^[b] me, in order ^(D)that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone;^[c]

²⁰ Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,

³ For, being ignorant of ^(A)the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

¹⁵ For he says to Moses, ^(A)“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” ¹⁶ So then it depends not on human will or exertion,^[a] but on God, who has mercy. ¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, ^(B)“For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” ¹⁸ So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

¹⁹ You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For ^(C)who can resist his will?” ²⁰ But who are you, O man, ^(D)to answer back to God? ^(E)Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” ^21 (F)Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump ^(G)one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? ²² What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience ^(H)vessels of wrath ^(I)prepared for destruction, ²³ in order to make known ^(J)the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he ^(K)has prepared beforehand for glory— ²⁴ even us whom he ^(L)has called, ^(M)not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
