Saul Preaches Christ

20 Immediately he preached [a]the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

21 Then all who heard were amazed, and said, (A)“Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”

22 But Saul increased all the more in strength, (B)and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

Saul Escapes Death

23 Now after many days were past, (C)the Jews plotted to kill him. 24 (D)But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him. 25 Then the disciples took him by night and (E)let him down through the wall in a large basket.

Saul at Jerusalem

26 And (F)when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. 27 (G)But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, (H)and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28 So (I)he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out. 29 And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the (J)Hellenists,[b] (K)but they attempted to kill him. 30 When the brethren found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus.

20 and immediately in the synagogues he was preaching the Christ, that he is the Son of God.

21 And all those hearing were amazed, and said, `Is not this he who laid waist in Jerusalem those calling on this name, and hither to this intent had come, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?'

22 And Saul was still more strengthened, and he was confounding the Jews dwelling in Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

23 And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him,

24 and their counsel against [him] was known to Saul; they were also watching the gates both day and night, that they may kill him,

25 and the disciples having taken him, by night did let him down by the wall, letting down in a basket.

26 And Saul, having come to Jerusalem, did try to join himself to the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he is a disciple,

27 and Barnabas having taken him, brought [him] unto the apostles, and did declare to them how in the way he saw the Lord, and that he spake to him, and how in Damascus he was speaking boldly in the name of Jesus.

28 And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem,

29 and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, he was both speaking and disputing with the Hellenists, and they were taking in hand to kill him,

30 and the brethren having known, brought him down to Cesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

23 When (E)many days had elapsed, (F)the Jews plotted together to do away with him, 24 but (G)their plot became known to Saul. (H)They were also closely watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death; 25 but his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

26 (I)When he came to Jerusalem, he tried repeatedly to associate with the disciples; and yet they were all afraid of him, as they did not believe that he was a disciple. 27 But (J)Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had (K)seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how (L)he had (M)spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus at Damascus. 28 And he was with them, [c]moving about freely in Jerusalem, (N)speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 And he was talking and arguing with the [d](O)Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put him to death. 30 Now when (P)the [e]brothers learned of it, they brought him down to (Q)Caesarea and (R)sent him away to (S)Tarsus.
