2 and asked for (A)letters from him to (B)the synagogues at (C)Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to (D)the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 And as he was traveling, it happened that when he was approaching Damascus, (E)suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; 4 and (F)falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

New International Version
2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus,(A) so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way,(B) whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.(C) 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice(D) say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
