Seven Chosen to Serve

6 Now in these days ^(A)when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists^[a] arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in ^(B)the daily distribution.

³⁹ So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to ^(A)the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics^[a] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.

³⁵ and ^(A)laid it at the apostles' feet, and ^(B)it was distributed to each as any had need.

⁴⁷ praising God and ^(A)having favor with all the people. And the Lord ^(B)added to their number ^(C)day by day those who ^(D)were being saved.

⁴¹ So those who received his word were baptized, and ^(A)there were added that day about three thousand souls.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

²⁹ And he spoke and disputed against ^(A)the Hellenists.^[a] But ^(B)they were seeking to kill him.

⁷ And ^(A)the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests ^(B)became obedient to ^(C)the faith.

⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brothers, ^(A)so that you may not be judged; behold, ^(B)the Judge is standing ^(C)at the door.
