²¹ And when they heard this, ^(A)they entered the temple ^(B)at daybreak and began to teach.

Now when the high priest came, and those who were with him, they called together the council, all the senate of the people of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

^2 (A)Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and ^(B)he sat down and taught them.

¹⁵ for ^(A)you will be a witness for him to everyone of what ^(B)you have seen and heard.

² And when they heard that he was addressing them in ^(A)the Hebrew language,^[a] they became even more quiet. And he said:

^3 (B)“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated ^(C)at the feet of ^(D)Gamaliel^{[b] (E)}according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, ^(F)being zealous for God ^(G)as all of you are this day.

¹⁸ Now when day came, there was no little disturbance among the soldiers over what had become of Peter. ¹⁹ And after Herod searched for him and did not find him, he examined the sentries and ^(A)ordered that they should be put to death. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and spent time there.

⁴¹ Then they left the presence of the council, ^(A)rejoicing that they were counted worthy ^(B)to suffer dishonor for ^(C)the name.

³⁴ But a Pharisee in the council named ^(A)Gamaliel, ^(B)a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people, stood up and gave orders to put the men outside for a little while.

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them,

²⁴ Now when ^(A)the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them, wondering what this would come to. ²⁵ And someone came and told them, “Look! The men whom you put in prison ^(B)are standing in the temple and teaching the people.”

¹⁷ But the high priest rose up, and all who were with him (that is, the party of ^(A)the Sadducees), and filled with ^(B)jealousy
