Peter and John Before the Council
4 And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and (A)the captain of the temple and (B)the Sadducees came upon them, 2 greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming (C)in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they arrested them and (D)put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the word believed, and (E)the number of the men came to about five thousand.
5 On the next day their rulers and elders and scribes gathered together in Jerusalem, 6 with (F)Annas the high priest and (G)Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, (H)“By what power or (I)by what name did you do this?” 8 Then Peter, (J)filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, 9 if we are being examined today (K)concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that (L)by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, (M)whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. 11 (N)This Jesus[a] is the stone that was (O)rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.[b] 12 And there is (P)salvation (Q)in no one else, for (R)there is no other (S)name under heaven given among men[c] by which we must be saved.”
13 (T)Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. 14 But seeing the man who was healed (U)standing beside them, (V)they had nothing to say in opposition. 15 But when they had commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one another, 16 saying, (W)“What shall we do with these men? For that (X)a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them (Y)to speak no more to anyone in this name.” 18 So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, (Z)“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for (AA)we cannot but speak of what (AB)we have seen and heard.” 21 And when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, (AC)because of the people, for all were praising God (AD)for what had happened. 22 For the man on whom this sign of healing was performed was more than forty years old.
The Believers Pray for Boldness
23 When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 And when they heard it, they lifted their voices (AE)together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, (AF)who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, 25 who through the mouth of our father David, your servant,[d] said by the Holy Spirit,
(AG)“‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and (AH)the rulers were gathered together,
against the Lord and against his (AI)Anointed’[e]—
27 for truly in this city there were gathered together against your (AJ)holy servant Jesus, (AK)whom you anointed, both (AL)Herod and (AM)Pontius Pilate, along (AN)with the Gentiles and (AO)the peoples of Israel, 28 (AP)to do whatever your hand and (AQ)your plan had predestined to take place. 29 And now, Lord, (AR)look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all (AS)boldness, 30 while (AT)you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed (AU)through the name of your (AV)holy servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, (AW)the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and (AX)they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and (AY)continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
They Had Everything in Common
32 Now the full number of those who believed were of (AZ)one heart and (BA)soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but (BB)they had everything in common. 33 And with great (BC)power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and (BD)great grace was upon them all. 34 (BE)There was not a needy person among them, for (BF)as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and (BG)laid it at the apostles' feet, and (BH)it was distributed to each as any had need. 36 Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means (BI)son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37 sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and (BJ)laid it at the apostles' feet.

4 Mientras Pedro y Juan hablaban a la gente, se presentaron los sacerdotes, el capitán de la guardia del Templo y los saduceos. 2 Estaban muy disgustados porque los apóstoles enseñaban a la gente y proclamaban la resurrección, que se había hecho evidente en el caso de Jesús. 3 Arrestaron a Pedro y a Juan y, como ya anochecía, los metieron en la cárcel hasta el día siguiente. 4 Pero muchos de los que oyeron el mensaje creyeron y el número de estos, contando solo a los hombres, llegaba a unos cinco mil.
5 Al día siguiente se reunieron en Jerusalén los gobernantes, los líderes religiosos y los maestros de la Ley. 6 Allí estaban el sumo sacerdote Anás, Caifás, Juan, Alejandro y los otros miembros de la familia del sumo sacerdote. 7 Hicieron que Pedro y Juan comparecieran ante ellos y comenzaron a interrogarlos:
—¿Con qué poder o en nombre de quién hicieron ustedes esto?
8 Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, respondió:
—Gobernantes del pueblo y líderes religiosos: 9 Hoy se nos procesa por haber favorecido a un paralítico, ¡y se nos pregunta cómo fue sanado! 10 Sepan, pues, todos ustedes y todo el pueblo de Israel que este hombre está aquí delante de ustedes, sano gracias al nombre de Jesucristo de Nazaret, crucificado por ustedes, pero resucitado por Dios. 11 Jesucristo es
»“la piedra que desecharon ustedes los constructores
y que ha llegado a ser la piedra angular”.[a]
12 De hecho, en ningún otro hay salvación, porque no hay bajo el cielo otro nombre dado a los hombres mediante el cual podamos ser salvos.
13 Los gobernantes, al ver la osadía con que hablaban Pedro y Juan, y al darse cuenta de que eran gente sin estudios ni preparación, quedaron asombrados y reconocieron que habían estado con Jesús. 14 Además, como vieron que los acompañaba el hombre que había sido sanado, no tenían nada que alegar. 15 Así que les mandaron que se retiraran del Consejo y se pusieron a deliberar entre sí: 16 «¿Qué vamos a hacer con estos sujetos? Es un hecho que por medio de ellos ha ocurrido un milagro evidente; todos los que viven en Jerusalén lo saben y no podemos negarlo. 17 Para evitar que este asunto siga divulgándose entre la gente, vamos a amenazarlos y así no volverán a hablar de ese nombre a nadie».
18 Los llamaron y les ordenaron terminantemente que dejaran de hablar y enseñar acerca del nombre de Jesús. 19 Pero Pedro y Juan replicaron:
—¿Es justo delante de Dios obedecerlos a ustedes en vez de obedecerlo a él? ¡Júzguenlo ustedes mismos! 20 Nosotros no podemos dejar de hablar de lo que hemos visto y oído.
21 Después de nuevas amenazas, los dejaron irse. Por causa de la gente, no hallaban manera de castigarlos: todos alababan a Dios por lo que había sucedido, 22 pues el hombre que había sido milagrosamente sanado tenía más de cuarenta años.
La oración de los creyentes
23 Al quedar libres, Pedro y Juan volvieron a los suyos y les relataron todo lo que habían dicho los jefes de los sacerdotes y los líderes religiosos. 24 Cuando lo oyeron, alzaron unánimes la voz en oración a Dios: «Soberano Señor, creador del cielo y de la tierra, del mar y de todo lo que hay en ellos, 25 tú, por medio del Espíritu Santo, dijiste en labios de nuestro padre David, tu siervo:
»“¿Por qué se enfurecen las naciones
y en vano conspiran los pueblos?
26 Los reyes de la tierra se rebelan;
los gobernantes se confabulan
contra el Señor
y contra su ungido”.[b]
27 En efecto, en esta ciudad se reunieron Herodes y Poncio Pilato, con los gentiles y con el pueblo[c] de Israel, contra tu santo siervo Jesús, a quien ungiste 28 para hacer lo que de antemano tu poder y tu voluntad habían determinado que sucediera. 29 Ahora, Señor, toma en cuenta sus amenazas y concede a tus siervos el proclamar tu palabra sin temor alguno. 30 Por eso, extiende tu mano para sanar y hacer señales y prodigios mediante el nombre de tu santo siervo Jesús».
31 Después de haber orado, tembló el lugar en que estaban reunidos; todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y proclamaban la palabra de Dios sin temor alguno.
Los creyentes comparten sus bienes
32 Todos los creyentes eran de un solo sentir y pensar. Nadie consideraba suya ninguna de sus posesiones, sino que las compartían. 33 Los apóstoles, a su vez, con gran poder seguían dando testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús. La gracia de Dios se derramaba abundantemente sobre todos ellos, 34 pues no había ningún necesitado en la comunidad. Quienes poseían casas o terrenos los vendían, llevaban el dinero de las ventas 35 y lo entregaban a los apóstoles para que se distribuyera según la necesidad de cada uno.
36 José, un levita natural de Chipre, a quien los apóstoles llamaban Bernabé, que significa «Hijo de consolación», 37 vendió un terreno que poseía, llevó el dinero y lo puso a disposición de los apóstoles.

唯一的救主
4 彼得和約翰向百姓講道的時候，祭司、聖殿護衛長和撒都該人趕來了。 2 因為彼得和約翰宣講藉著耶穌死人可以復活，他們非常惱怒， 3 下令拘捕二人，因天色已晚，就把他們扣押了一夜。 4 但有許多聽道的人信了，男人的數目約有五千人。
5 第二天，官長、長老和律法教師都聚集在耶路撒冷， 6 大祭司亞那，以及該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大和大祭司的許多親族都在場。 7 他們令使徒站在當中，質問道：「你們憑什麼權柄、以誰的名義這樣做？」
8 那時彼得被聖靈充滿，對他們說：「各位百姓的官長和長老啊， 9 如果因為那殘疾的乞丐得到醫治這件善事，你們今天來查問我們他是如何痊癒的， 10 那麼，你們和所有以色列人都應當知道，他能健康地站在你們面前，全是靠拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名！你們把祂釘在十字架上，但上帝使祂從死裡復活了。
11 『祂是你們工匠丟棄的石頭，
已成了房角石。』
12 除祂以外，別無救主，因為普天之下沒有賜下別的名我們可以靠著得救！」
13 在場的人看到彼得和約翰的膽量，又知道他們原是沒有學問的平民百姓，都很驚奇。他們認出這些人跟隨過耶穌， 14 又見那被醫好的瘸子站在他們旁邊，便無話可說， 15 只好暫時把他們押下去，然後彼此商量說： 16 「我們該怎樣處置這兩個人呢？整個耶路撒冷的居民都知道他們行了一個神蹟，我們無法否認。 17 為了避免這件事傳得更廣，我們必須警告他們以後不許再對任何人傳講耶穌的事。」
18 於是，他們又把使徒傳來，嚴令他們不許再奉耶穌的名講論或傳道。 19 但彼得和約翰答道：「要我們聽從你們而不聽從上帝，這在上帝看來合理嗎？你們自己想想吧。 20 我們耳聞目睹的，不能不說！」 21 官長實在不知道如何懲治使徒，只好再三恐嚇之後把他們放了，因為百姓都為這個神蹟讚美上帝。 22 在這次神蹟中蒙上帝醫治的那個人已經四十多歲了。
同心禱告
23 彼得和約翰被釋放之後，就去找其他信徒，把祭司長和長老的話都告訴大家。 24 大家聽後，一同高聲向上帝禱告說：「主啊，你創造了天地、海洋和其中的萬物。 25 你藉著聖靈感動你的僕人——我們的祖先大衛說，
『列國為何咆哮？
萬民為何枉費心機？
26 世上的君王一同行動，官長聚集起來，
要抵擋主和祂所膏立的王。』
27 「果然如此，希律和本丟·彼拉多、外族人和以色列人都聚集在這城裡，要對抗你膏立的聖子[a]耶穌， 28 然而他們所做的只不過是你憑自己的能力和旨意所預定的。 29 主啊，你看他們這樣恐嚇我們，求你幫助你的奴僕們坦然無懼地傳你的道。 30 求你伸出手醫治疾病，藉著你聖子耶穌的名行神蹟奇事。」
31 禱告完後，聚會的地方震動起來，他們都被聖靈充滿，放膽傳揚上帝的道。
共用一切
32 當時所有信徒都同心合意，共用所有的東西，沒有人說他的財物只屬於自己。 33 使徒充滿能力，繼續為主耶穌復活的事做見證，上帝也賜下極大的恩典給眾人。 34 信徒都一無所缺，因為大家賣掉房屋田產，把所得的錢交給使徒， 35 照各人的需要分配給各人。
36 有個生在塞浦路斯的利未人名叫約瑟，使徒叫他巴拿巴，意思是勸慰者。 37 他賣掉自己的一塊田，把賣得的錢交給了使徒。

4 The priests and the captain of the temple guard(A) and the Sadducees(B) came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.(C) 3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail(D) until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew(E) to about five thousand.
5 The next day the rulers,(F) the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. 6 Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas,(G) John, Alexander and others of the high priest’s family. 7 They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,(H) said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people!(I) 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame(J) and are being asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,(K) whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead,(L) that this man stands before you healed. 11 Jesus is
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”(N)
13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John(O) and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men,(P) they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.(Q) 14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. 15 So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin(R) and then conferred together. 16 “What are we going to do with these men?”(S) they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign,(T) and we cannot deny it. 17 But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”
18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.(U) 19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?(V) You be the judges! 20 As for us, we cannot help speaking(W) about what we have seen and heard.”(X)
21 After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people(Y) were praising God(Z) for what had happened. 22 For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.
The Believers Pray
23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.(AA) “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.(AB) 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:(AC)
“‘Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord
and against his anointed one.[b]’[c](AD)
27 Indeed Herod(AE) and Pontius Pilate(AF) met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus,(AG) whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.(AH) 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.(AI) 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders(AJ) through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”(AK)
31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken.(AL) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit(AM) and spoke the word of God(AN) boldly.(AO)
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.(AP) 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify(AQ) to the resurrection(AR) of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace(AS) was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them,(AT) brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet,(AU) and it was distributed to anyone who had need.(AV)
36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas(AW) (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.(AX)
