^11 [a](A)He is the ^(B)stone which was ^(C)rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. ¹² And there is salvation in ^(D)no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.”

Testing the Spirits

4 ^(A)Beloved, do not believe every ^(B)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because ^(C)many false prophets have gone out into the world.

¹⁴ Then the Lord said to me, “The ^(A)prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. ^(B)I have neither sent them nor commanded them, nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a ^(C)false vision, divination, futility, and the deception of their own ^[a]minds. ¹⁵ Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, although it was not I who sent them—yet they keep saying: ‘There will be no sword or famine in this land’—^(D)by sword and famine those prophets shall meet their end! ¹⁶ And the people to whom they are prophesying will be ^(E)thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and there will be no one to ^(F)bury them—neither them, nor their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters. For I will ^(G)pour out their own wickedness upon them.

¹² and ^(A)they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and they followed other gods from the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed down to them; so they provoked the Lord to anger.
